Playing around with the 3" gun and noticed an oddity with the ammunition count and weight:
30-85 rounds - 1T 90-120 rounds - 2T 125-145 rounds - 3T 150-200 rounds - 4T 205 rounds - 5T 210-250 (max) rounds - 6T
I would expect this to be more linear. Shells of the same calibre tend towards the same weight, and will take up the same volume.

This is intention.
Players usually had too much ammo giving them great advantage over AI which have usual standard 80 to 100 shells per heavy main guns.

dorn: Well, the change that was made was that you can no longer freely change ammo capacity on refit. @op: Keep in mind that the weight associated with ammunition is not just that of ammunition itself, but also stuff like storage racks, magazine armor (ships usually had some splinter protection around the magazines in addition to the protection provided by the belt and deck), etc.
