[1.14] Unwanted plane upgrade set to enter service

This time its about the medium bombers. Here is the sequence of events for the plane models.



= MDM-4 B was an okay bomber for its time



= MDMT-5 is invented. It is the first and so far only model to have a torpedo attack mode. I want them everywhere so MDM-4 B is obsoleted.



= MDM-4 C is invented with improvements on MDM-4 B. One might even like its stats compared to MDMT-5 except for the lack of the torpedo attack mode.



What the game is doing is automatically putting the new "upgrade" version into place without checking what the player wants to do.

In the early unfound thread another player suggested airgroups choose their upgrades. I must stress that the "Secretary of the Navy" has said all groups to switch to MDMT-5 so that all will have a torpedo attack. There would be no budget for hundreds of the of MDM-4 C to be bought for the colonial airbases.

Now since I am indeed aware of it, this time, I will manually obsolete MDM-4 C.

What I think the game ought to do (bug report or suggestion) is to have a pop up asking if the new upgrade,  this time MDM-4 C, should be accepted.

I think you might have pressed the "OK" button when the new version MDM-4C appeared instead of "Cancel"

Anyway at any given moment you can set any plane you want to "Obsolete" status and get rid of it

hmmm....

I would never have thought of using "Cancel"

Related issue though:

The upgrade screen, say to MDM-4C, only shows the prior version, MDM-4B. It doesn't show what planes of that type I currently have in service, the MDM-5T. The only way to get to comparing is to click "Okay" then, unless swarmed with tactical battles, remember to check the aircraft types.

Perhaps then what we could do is have the upgrade screen include showing the stats for the planes of that type in service. The pop-up question to "continue with this version" being how to phrase it.

It can be a bit more complex too. Say you have 200 MDM in your airforce. At a point in time there are 120 MDM-4B being replaced by MDM-5T with only 80 of the latter now in service. The MDM-4C upgrade would help a bit on those 120 but you still want to phase out all the -4 series for the torp carrying -5T.

Perhaps that is a bit too complex and just letting the player see all his in service planes to cancel/okay an upgrade would work.

Oh... just remembered...

It would need to show the planes under development as well as the ones in service.

Basically, I believe I've been hitting "cancel" because we don't have the full information as to whether the upgrade is useful or not. That info currently only appears once you get to the aircraft types.
