Ok so I downloaded the installer, Wine(and it's prerequisites). I start installing the game, finish it, when it tries to open to get the codes it gives me this:
(error: 00000002): Unable to obtain lock!
I then close it and try and relaunch but when I try it wants me to choose an app to launch it with but Wine isn't an option. Edit: expanded the options and tried wine but still doesn't work.
Thank you for your help

Linux user here.
This sort of thing is generally more a question to bring to the Wine team than to the developer of an individual game. Developers have generally decided what platforms they want to release for and you'll be very, very lucky if they give you more support than "we can't guarantee that it will work, try at your own risk", and, while most developers including the team here will probably not be so blunt as to say so, it's really a bit rude to expect them to provide support off-platform. The Wine team, on the other hand, strives to make as many Windows apps work off platform as possible, because that's Wine's entire reason for existence. They also have much more experience with non-Windows platforms, and (naturally) with Wine itself than the average developer of a Windows-only app. Unless the developer of the Windows app in question has decided that Wine is what they will use to provide cross-platform support, and tests to make sure that each build will run on Wine, you'll generally get more and better results, and make a better impression, if you report issues with running under Wine to the Wine project rather tab to the developer.
That said, Wine's appDB lists RTW1 as running very well under wine. However, there's not a listing for RTW2, and there's a reason why it is much likely to work: the team here added a DRM solution to RTW2, and any DRM makes any app much less likely to work off-platform under a compatibility layer, as DRM solutions often deal with the low-level specifics of how Windows works, and may even depend on being able to install a kernel module (in which case they are guaranteed not to work off-platform).
For my part, I was given a Windows license with a course I took a while back, so I just have a Windows virtual machine for software that doesn't work well under Wine and isn't too graphics intensive, and RTW2 works well under that.

Thank you for your help Download the latest (v1.17) update and apply it, that should resolve this. Bear in mind however that we do not officially support running the game under WINE or any emulators due to potential issues, some of which rimbecano mentions above in his post.
