July 1908
As the Dreadnought class enters service, we design the next generation of battleships, the Warspite class. They have 8x13" guns. While this is not a particularly good gun, it is hoped it will be able to be upgraded once there is a better gun of that calibre.
Speed remains at 25 kt.

There has been a pro-French coup in Norway. They are clearly trying to surround us. The assumption must be that the next war will be against France.

France now controls Borneo. This is not good.

We have now designed a prototype triple turret. We will be putting these in our new ships, to pack more guns in.

January 1910 - steady as she goes.
Looking at the naval situation, everything seems good, or at least adequate. We have the strongest navy. The only country we are on bad terms with right now is France, but we are ahead of them and so should encourage a war. We are building lots of destroyers which will be finished soon. Maybe next we should build some more colonial cruisers, buying some from German or American yards to get insights into their technologies.

March 1910
The new "ColB" colonial cruiser is armed with 6" guns (as we now have good ones) and is well defended against torpedoes. Most of the guns are on the centerline and can be fired in broadsides.

July 1910
Our new armoured cruiser, the Vigilant, is fast and well armed, and designed to be proof against 6" shells. It will therefore be very good at hunting down enemy CLs.

France is up to its old tricks in the Solomon Islands. We have sent them an ultimatum. Will it be war?

France has a strong presence in SE Asia which will have to be countered, while maintaining our superiority in the Channel and Med.
So we will sail a fleet to SE Asia, invade somewhere in the Med to force them to fight, and blockade them.

Jan 1911
We have decisively beaten a french raiding force in the channel. Dreadnought and Deadly did brilliantly, totally vindicating the dreadnought concept.

Feb 1911
Another battle in the Bristol channel. This time we lost the dreadnought, due to a secondary armament explosion. We could armour this more heavily -- although that would take up a lot of weight. Or maybe only have a small number of guns in secondary, and a stronger tertiary armament?
Still, we continue to have a favourable loss ratio against the French. we are wearing them down.
We have invaded Tunisia. maybe we should invade their colonies in SE Asia next.

April 1911
We now have 14 inch guns. Our next battleships will be armed with them. This is an important breakthrough.

I have signed off the plans for the new Invincible class, which is fast and well armoured, with 6x14" guns.
