Is it me, or is that class of 'battleships' basically just armored cruisers with delusions of grandeur? They are armored cruisers, and it is pretty sad, but at least it's only the early game. In the first 2 or 3 years, the only difference between a CA and a B is often a 10-inch vs an 11-inch gun.

I meant the real life Habsburg class battleships, but eh, I guess it applies to the ones shown from the game as well!

![](http://oi67.tinypic.com/24lsjn7.jpg) Just saw this in-game, and it was so odd it had to be remarked on. This was France's first 'dreadnought' - although that's giving too much credit to a design that would probably come off worse in a gunnery duel with any of my second generation pre-dreadnoughts, or their semi-dreadnought successors.

French shipbuilders are so French... For them three turrets at CENTRELINE!!! is progress, big enough (remembering their mmm... original RL designs) to call this result "dreadnought" - she has TWICE MORE main guns than some of her predcessors. Just don't remind them about other fleets

Well, France did produce a few odd designs in this era. I actually feel proud of the AI that it came up with this one!

Yeah, I like it when the AI throws up a real oddity like that. They only built one of them; I wonder why? Their next dreadnought was more conventional; four turrets, two of which en echelon.
