Okay, so Im a veteran player when I write this. Graf Tirpitz at high damage showing 84%, mostly flooding damage, is at risk of sinking. There is ongoing flooding. It can make 13 knots, which tends to risk a chances of a bulkhead breaking ramping up flooding to 200+ which will kill it. I manually order it to slow to 5 knts. I have sailed the formation command squadron over to her to avoid the "outside of command range". There isn't any "losses contact" message. Repeatedly this ship is over riding the 5 knots manual to got to 9 or 13 knots. I noticed it when it sailed from behind to avoid of the command squadron. Graphics close enough to overlap. I can manually change the speed and direction which doesn't happen if it was a "losses contact" situation. There is no sign of returning floatplanes. I dont know why this flooding at-risk-of-sinking ship wants to keep gunning her engines to speeds prone to breaking bulkheads. Repeatedly I have manually changed to speed back to 5 knots. It keeps jumping to even 0 as well as 9 and 13 knots. There is sea conditions limiting speed so maybe that is confusing the AI but it isn't happening to the other ships. 7zip game file attached. Version 1.20

Reloaded a mid battle save and saw the same thing. It was with the command section, detached for damage by AI and jumped from 5 to 13 knots.
One thing occured to me is that it had been detached manually earlier in the battle. This is one of the ships where a proper "retreat" is needed.
It may be that the AI is deciding (wrongly) to reattach the cripple to its original group only to detach it again due to damage (showing it shouldnt have rejoined). That would make the follow up manual speed setting to slow 5 knots being over ridden by the auto-detach-AI deciding to use unsafe speeds.

!!$*!@#*%!@#*!@#(
I even reloaded the game and told the formation, with the crippled Graf Tirpitz, to come to halt at speed 0.
A few minutes later it detaches, speeds up and starts to ship water for going to fast.

I reloaded again to micro manage the Graf Tirpitz.
On manual control with speed set to zero when I have the group selected the flag is "yellow" for my selected group and under my control.
Repeatedly the flag would turn red when the AI took over the ship. The AI is setting the speed up.
The "Detach" logic needs fixing with a "retreat" and seems a "slow retreat" (5 knots) because the detach logic is so filled of situations that it isn't reliable and is now proven to override active player control.

Ships/division I set to "AI control" (because I don't want to bother with them) keep switching to manual and wander off on whatever their last course was.
