Hello all!
i found out about this game via YouTube and I have loved every minute of it since I bought it.
My question is; Is there a mod or a way to have the countries start with their historically accurate ships? I don't mind alternative history as long as there is a historical start.
thank you.

From my poking around in the game files, there is not.

A Forum member has written a mod that supposedly recreates the historical German fleet of 1900, it's on the forum here: Historical HSF StartRule The Waves was never designed or intended to be a historically deterministic game so there are no official provisions for historical fleets and so far as I am aware, no intentions to offer this feature in the foreseeable future.

That isn't so much a mod as it is a save file where the player did his best to recreate the fleet. The other nations in that save still have randomized ships I believe.

I don't mind alternative history as long as there is a historical start. thank you. Very good statement! Against this background you could indeed try the historical HSF start (Game4 Folder) for RTW (only German navy as per January 1900).
You might also try SAI and RJW if you prefer a historical start in naval sims!

I was planning to put together a 'historical' start, including the AI nations, for the major powers (UK, US, Germany, Japan) before 1.1 hit, and put that on hold once it did incase any changes made saves incompatible. Now that 1.11 is out, I may take a look at resuming this project.
