Is there any possibility the developers might consider revisiting the reset of victory points when new belligerents enter a war? It seems counterintuitive that if you sink most of Nation A's fleet, and Nation B enters with two capital ships and some outdated light ships, all progress you were making in the war is totally wiped. Is there any way to make it a percentage of points lost, rather than completely wiping the slate?

Seconding this. It should be scaled to the new belligerents power. Even so, if nation A is on the verge of collapse and in a 100k point deficit, there should be no reason for a reset to 0-0 even if Nation B is the USA or GB. You should post this to the suggestion forum.

It's worst when Nation A is the US or GB, and you've fleet wiped them for 40k points, but lose all that progress because Russia joined the war with 2 BBs, 3 obsolete CAs and a submarine.

Oh hey, that thing I said was "the worst" just happened. I was up 66k to 30k victory points against GB. France joined the war. 0/0. I still outnumber the combined UK/FR, and the USA is on my side in the war. Why reset the points? Attachments:

I once was in a war and had sunk most of the enemy's capital ships. I don't remember who I was playing, and note that this was RtW1, but I think it was Japan. Or maybe Japan was the new belligerent.
In any case, after the new party entered and VP reset, the new nation didn't send ships into my sea zones, and the old nation had no ships of great VP worth left. So the war rolled on and puttered out, taking what should have been a glorious victory to a draw (maybe the "small concession" victory, but no points).
It would be nice if the system were altered slightly, but it used to frustrate me more than it does now. Not that the system has changed, just my tolerance =)
