I understand that the production of the DLC now absorbs all the resources of NWS. As we say: the tail is the most difficult part to flay. However I noticed that seawolf managed to produce some WW2 scenarios via RTW2 (see the thread "RTW2 MODS and MOD discussion"). I, and some others like me too, would like to be able to do this, even if without the MODding ability of seawolf. We would need the help of an updated version of the scenario editor and perhaps, tomorrow, of the campaign editor. For this I would be willing to pay something.

I've just returned from downloading "Ultimate Admiral." Now that I've finished throwing up..... . Just want to keep the thread alive and the hope that NWS will build on Steam and Iron. I just purchased RTW2 again to support and give it a fair shake but again, while it has some great potential, too generic.....especially with the starting forces......its a fictional universe. I like working with the real life products. Just a personal preference. I also couldn't help but wince at a Repulse class Battleship with 4 triple turrets , 11 inch armor and a decent deck on 20,000 displacement. ( ??). But with RTW thats inevitable. centerline triple and quad turrets. Similar with Ultimate Admiral which spends alot of promo talking about how YOU design your own warships. Funny how they ultimately tend to come out the same. Steam and Iron is such a great game that I only have a couple basic suggestions to add to a sequel. 1) don't fix what's not broken! 2) a more granular FOW option would be great. The current FoW options are good but even on the more informed settings one has to wait to finish a game and look at log files to see what one's own weapons did to the enemy and how their defenses/armor held up. Like the Steel Panthers series I would love a FoW option that allows you to see in real time what's happening when your shells hit the enemy. I realize that this can distort future command decisions, hence it should be a FoW OPTION. Despite my love of seeing in tactical scale how the various warships stack up against each other in a simulation that does a bang on job of representing it (unlike Ultimate Admiral), I have appreciated with great humor looking at log files at the end of a long battle only to find I was focusing fire on a ship that was already in a sinking condition so basically I was just re-distributing the rubble on top of the hull. Awesome. Still love this game. Recommend RJW and WaS to all who aren't familiar with it. If a sequel or sequel/campaign download is created....first in line...same as I am with Shrapnel Games and their continued support of the Steel Panthers series. Thanks to all involved who made this great game. Good job too on RTW......granted, not my cup of tea, but I'll play around with it.

I would second all this. I realise that RTW2 is the best seller, so SAI unlikely to get any limelight, but I wish it would. I too really favour the historical and still play SAI, many many years after first buying it. In fact, my old install recently started playing up and so I just bought the (ridiculously cheap) new combo pack both because I couldn't be bothered with all the individual patches and to show some support again for the game. Will now have another go at the Baltic campaign. If nothing else could be done it would be wonderful to have the SAI UI updated to the RTW2 standard. Things like the run as fast as possible button are really nice. But what I would really crave is a WW2 SAI expansion, or new game, in which great carrier battles could also be fought etc.

Will add my 2 cents. I am very new to the game. Bought it recently. Got the RTW 2 also but did not find it so exciting as realistic RJW. There are very different tastes indeed. I see how popular RTW 2 became with all those lets plays on YouTube (this is how I found out about Steam and Iron btw), but after I tried it, I had the same feeling as nikademus: not my cup of tea, but I'll play around with it. In every game I watched people design cheesy unrealistic ships with one goal (as it seems) – to beat more realistic AI. If I want this kind of fun and to design ships myself in a fiction environment, I will play Distant Worlds Universe: it has so much better carrier options and different kinds of torpedoes LOL. Just kidding. But not 100% What really got me is realistic Campaign in RJW. I did not get another Steam and Iron title yet, but now will definitely get it after I am done with this Campaign (despite there is still no torpedo ranges ). It is almost like RPG, where you can not only play with real ships, but also learn about the history as you play. One little observation though. What surprised me is that in vanilla game I did not see any pictures for many historical ships. Just blank frames with nothing. Some drawings for the bigger Battleships, but very few. In a game you are paying for in 2022 this was like a little shock. Is it so difficult to get pictures of those historical ships (even photos form Internet) and integrate them into the game? I think that would add a tremendous touch of beauty and historical feel to the game. Of course, I immediately installed SAI RJW R&H MOD, which added pictures and more realism. But still I am surprised it was not integrated into the game since 2014 (when the mod was created). So, I decided to mention about this in the light of possible sequel or updates along with up to date mechanical/gameplay changes which were done in RTW 2. And of course, despite all those critical notes, I wanted to thank the developers for this unique game, like one of a kind with a lot of potential in my opinion. With RJW Campaign I am having so much fun, as I had very few times in my entire wargaming experience! Thank you for this amazing game! Best regards, Dmitriy

You should try to find Alex's RJW mod in here somewhere, Skryabin. Loads of excellent pictures. Also, if you fancied a more even contest, he also did a 'Russia stronger' mod. But the pictures mod - I don't even recall what it's called though I've played with my version modded with it ever since. Maybe someone else can direct you to it. or search under 'Alex' maybe. His images are excellent and fill the gaps.

Yes, thank you! I did install it already. Just was sharing my impressions about the game as it comes "out of the box"...
