[1.24] Rejecting an aircraft upgrade alters the old model

My game is in year 1947. I have two separate medium bomber designs that did not have torpedo capability(listed as Torpedo: '-') and I prefer to keep them that way. I got the event where I'm offered an updated model of the aircraft for one of the bombers, but the new model had a torpedo capability so I clicked 'Cancel' to reject it. After the event, however, the old model was now listed with torpedo capability(Torpedo: 'M'). Couple of months later the same exact thing happened with the second MB design: I was offered an updated model with a torpedo, clicked 'Cancel', but the torpedo was still added to the base model.

I'm guessing that rejecting the upgrade does weird things since it's not a thing that people are supposed to do that often... definitely can't remember a time I've ever done that before.

What version of the game were you playing (v1.00, v1.01, etc)? 1.24

To the best of my knowledge you cannot refuse an upgrade, they just happen, and the cancel button will only close the screen.
