First and Formost the resolver would be great after the first 4 or 5 battles in a game session I really don't want to fight any more battles but I want to build new ships and such. I would suggest having the ability to set officer training as a measure that can affect such auto resolves.
I want to bring up the idea to change how ship building is done to reflect a more historical method with the option of setting up long lead items and keeping some of your old gear from a refit e.g. your old 12in guns from the battleship from the turret rebuild in reserve which can be used to build rush builds and manage repairs when a ship is damaged (I point to the plans the British were considering pre WW2 to build an extra battleship to account for the diplomatic scene and the looting of builds that happened historically to keep ships in fighting condition in WW2). I figure this could be an interesting mechanic because historically ships weren't assaempled in one big go well the British made it seem like it did with there orders every year but historically ships where assemblied from parts and hulls changed roles part way through there builds and I would like to see that in game.

However, it would be useful to review the replay of a battle, in order to realize the shortcomings and mistakes made, to be avoided with a better (and necessarily more elaborate) "doctrine/training"

that is true but an argument could be made that such information may not be reliable either due to inacurate reporting or just a wrong assumption so maybe rather then a replay you get a summary using the reporting critearia already in game such as hits to capital ships and such meaning we would have to interpret that information and decide if we think the training we have is working

Would it be possible to add a custom battle generator in which we can design our own fleets & ships and pit them against each other?

You can already do that with your own nation's ships with the fleet exercise but I understand if you mean other nations' ships.

And even if not in the expansion and that is a lot of work, this could be another side DLC : all techs unlocked, design ships, compose both fleets, choose battle area, fight. Charge it 15€/$ and I am pretty sure it will sell.

Model it off of Tortuga's auto resolve which is pretty nice and it'd be golden

I prefer paying for such a niche game and small studio than a 20€ dlc Paradox or other big studio for bugged features and/or cosmetic/meme skins.

The ship designer (obviously) already exists and there is already the feature of a fleet exercise. In my opinion all that needs to be added to turn it into a custom battle creator would be to allow for more customization, e.g. being able to select if the battle takes place on the high sea, coastal area or close to islands. Maybe also daytime & weather. Then select some land features (if any) such as coastal batteries and airfields and determine the air group composition and give some orders to AI (support/screen etc.).

When negotiating a peace deal and claiming possessions, would it be possible to be able to open the map to check where the possessions are and if they have oil? Asking for a friend who sucks at geography 😉

Asking for a friend who sucks at geography 😉 When I win a war with significant gains, I'm usually opening up a second game to confirm locations, oil, and see what the basing capacity and fortifications are.
So something as simple as unlocking the "claim possessions" screen, so that I can access the map like I can when designing a ship, would be of benefit to my quality of life...

Its rarely a good idea to actually take possessions. Unlike real life, possessions in game offer minimal economic gain.
Supporting the neocolonialist position that robbing you blind costs them money too.
