Hello,
This is a pack that includes
- 1894 battle of Asan Bay scenario (aka battle of Feng-tao aka battle of Pungdo)
- 1894 Yalu river scenario.
- A random battle generator set for the Sino-Japanese war
- Chinese ships recreated by me using the editor, including pictures. (I know the vanilla game had some of these, but I wasn't always happy with them especially speed and secondary/tertiary armamnet).
INSTALLING: Copy the contents of the zip directly into your "custom Files" folder in your RTJ directory and there you go.
Enjoy and let me know what you think.
NOTES:
1) No two older publication seem to use the same transcript of the chinese warship names, which is horribly confusing as a result. Thus whenever possible I used the modern pinyin names to get some semblance of uniformity.
The only small exception was the second ship of the protected crusier Zhìyuàn class. The modern pinyin name would be "Jìngyuàn", however I chose the slightly older form "Chìngyuàn". The reason is for players to avoid confusing this ship with the Armored crusier class "Jīngyuǎn".
2) The scenario dates are set to 1900 instead of 1894, in order to avoid a known bug that plagues pre 1900 dates in the game's engine.
3) Random battle generator provides battles with crews of equal quality, so teh chinese navy should offer some challenge.
4) Despite being set to "attack", the Japanese AI is being overly cautious at times.
5) Ship stats are taken from Conway's "All the World's Fighing Ships 1860-1905", Olender "Flota chińska w okresie polityki samoumacniania się" and Gelewski "Jalu 1894". Whenever there was some inconsistence, I went with Gelewski as he's a more modern source.
