Hello all. I have now fought a few battles in Captain mode and very much enjoying it. I do have a few questions regarding fleet/division control however. Is there an optimal speed that increases gun accuracy. How do I order another division, say my CA division to join on to my B division in line ahead? I have both divisions under my control. In a previous battle my battle line became disorganized. How to reform a division line if they become disorganized? Cheers

As far as I know speed has no impact on accuracy, but maneuvering does. So keeping in a straight line makes it easier to aim (or be aimed at).
To order a division B to form a line on division A - select the B division and go into division details. Select the A division as lead division from the dropbox, select role as "core", formation line ahead and give the division B to AI control. When having a multi-division battleline you will only control the first division if the line and the rest will follow under AI control. If you have more than two division you will need to plug them in one by one. So division B follows A. C follows B and so on. This is usually done for you at the start of the battles, so you should just tick it over to AI control (except for leading divisions). If at any point you need to take direct control of subordinate division, uncheck AI control and what must be done.
When a line becomes disorganized the AI controlled divisions will attempt to reform. Success depends on whether they have enough speed to catch up to the leader, so you may need to slow down the lead division to allow the rest of the ships to catch up.

Speed primarily matters as far as gun accuracy is concerned only when closing or opening the range to a target...this is called 'rate-of-range-change': the higher the relative rate-of-range-change the more difficult it is to straddle/hit a target. So maintaining a course/speed that reduces the rate-of-range-change will improve accuracy, but of course the enemy's decisions (i.e. choosing to turn away/close with you) can affect this as well.

Going to flank speed has negative effect on your accuracy as you are getting max from your machinery, vibration etc. making accurate fire a little more difficult.

Is it possible to give a division a circle in place command? I ask, as it would allow me to wait in place during darkness while another division guides the enemy on to my guns.
