Quick question. If you receive penetrating hits on the conning tower, will it impact on the ship efficiency? It always seems like an easy advantage not to armour the conning tower, because getting your officers killed doesnt hit the efficiency of the vessel too much.

Conning tower hits usually reduce crew quality, which has a significant impact on a ship's fighting efficiency; they can also temporarily render the ship uncontrollable.

And what about damages such as "bridge destroyed"?

Crew quality affects RoF, accuracy, and damage control. I've definitely seen -2 quality ships die to dmg that a quality 0 crew would survive

Interesting article on Conning Towers in real history. I believe that the team should examine this article. They might want to make changes to how the extra weight and height of the conning tower affects the stability of the ship and the effectiveness of its use to manage a ship in battle. Most captains did not use the conning tower because of the lack of visibility and control. They preferred the bridge. The very heavy weight so high up in the superstructure raised the center of gravity and therefore affected the metacentric height making the ship very unstable. www.navygeneralboard.com/the-armoured-conning-tower-on-battleships/
