Hello! In RTW 2 at the end of the war you get a report on what armament shot down the most enemy aircraft.
As an idea, could you make an end-of-war report for what the average hit range was for each gun caliber? (Either your hits on the enemy or enemy hits on you) I see it looking something like this: -------- We've compiled reports on combat ranges from the previous war! The enemy hit our ships at the following ranges:
12"+ guns: Mean hit range: 11000 yards Maximum hit range: 18000 yards Median hit range: 9000-10000 yards
7"-11" guns: Mean hit range: 9000 yards Maximum hit range: 14000 yards Median hit range: 8000-9000 yards
2"-6" guns: Mean hit range: 7000 yards Maximum hit range: 12000 yards Median hit range: 6000-7000 yards
--------
There are a few things I want to mention: 1. Include hits only against active ships, not sinking ones (to make the results more useful)
2. Consider breaking the results down further by either caliber or target.
a. I think by target would be more useful. For instance, you could have the stats above in several tabs, one each for CLs, CAs, Bs (if applicable), BCs, and BBs. These ships engage at different ranges so splitting up these results would allow you to make better designs
3. The ultimate aim of this is, of course, to give information to the player on where they should try and place their "windows of immunity". As technology improves, combat range changes, so while it might make sense to armor your pre-dreadnoughts against same-caliber guns at 5000 yards in 1900 (or 1890!), by 1940 doing so would be a waste of armor and unnecessary. While this is something experienced players get a feel for over time already, Providing combat range info to players might lead them to take this into account without having to read a ship building guide.
