I recently fought a battle with enemy ships that were close in to one of my ports, and the continual spam of “do you want X division to enter port?” messages (along with several divisions accidentally being sent to port when I hit the spacebar expecting to advance time another tick but instead the popup came up), I got to thinking about how that could be handled differently.
My initial thought is a “return to port” button on the division window. It could become clickable when the division is close to a friendly port, and would remove the division from the map like usual - but there’s no popup that can accidentally be agreed to, or just to come up every 20-30 minutes for each division. It could even be always available, and override the division’s orders in favor of sending them back to a friendly port (then entering it when they get there), similar to detaching damaged ships.
That would lose the “yes to all” function - but that could be re-implemented by a button on the overall battle controls that would have all friendly divisions automatically go into port when close enough, or an option on the force orders window accomplishing the same thing for that force.
Not a particularly critical change, but (as someone who has accidentally had ships enter port never to be recovered) one that I personally think would be an improvement.
