I would like the ability for the player to manually create a "sighting report". The procedure would go something like this: - The player switches to the Reports tab, and there is a button which he can click labelled "Create report". Conveniently, there's space to the left of the "Delete reports" button.
- The cursor changes to a crosshair with a flag attached, the same flag as is used to mark existing sighting reports. The player clicks on the playing field to place it.
- A modal pops up, displaying the selected coordinates, the current time, and giving a descriptive text box for the player to fill in (replacing the ship counts of auto-generated sighting reports). The player can adjust the coordinates, the time, and can add a heading and speed.
- Hitting "Cancel" in the modal exits the process. Hitting "Confirm" (or Complete, or OK...) stores the completed sighting report. It remains in the Reports tab; other than its author (say, "Flag Officer"), it is treated the same as any other report.
I would use this to remind myself of certain events that have happened during a battle, for example the sinking of an enemy vessel during the night, so that I could come back during daylight and rescue survivors. Additionally, I could create air raid targets (for land batteries) that I could repeatedly select instead of manually choosing the location each time.
