Two issues with this battle... the first potentially a bug and the second a suggestion/request.
First: once the battle was done, I spent a couple hours of full daylight cruising around trying to pick up both my own and the Italian sailors. I got the opportunity because there was an Italian support force CL to the south that never got into the fight. I never spotted the sunken Italian cruisers, even driving over there last known locations, and in spite of driving my two ships right over the two sunken US destroyers I never got the 'rescue survivors' popup, and as you can see in the battle results, none were picked up. I don't think this is a weather limitation (overcast/moderate breeze), is it possibly triggered by the mission starting at night?
Second: I sunk 11400 tons of Italian cruisers in exchange for two 600t destroyers... a trade I'd take every day and twice on Sundays. The Italians never got close enough to even *see* the coastal ship traffic. And I got a minor defeat/prestige knock. I think the victory conditions should be changed from "Sink two ships (any ship)" to "Sink two Transports", or the points for all merchants surviving should match the other side's points for sinking 2 ships. In full honesty I've taken advantage of this mechanism myself in other playthroughs, for instance sinking a pair of KE's in the Baltic then tearing away in darkness before getting swamped by Russian air power. If they'd sunk two Transports, even if I later tagged the cruisers, I could see it... protecting civilian shipping is the job. But "losing" a battle so clearly won (and with a prestige hit!) definitely doesn't make sense to me. If the merchies all survive, the victory should be dependent on naval ship damage/losses.
