I just had a battle in which my carriers would not/could not launch any strikes. 11 hours of daylight, cloudy skies. CAP was duly launched and functioned as it should. Land based attack aircraft carried out their missions. Enemy carriers launch strikes against my ships. I kept getting the "aircraft would land in darkness" warning and could not send out any strikes. This is the first time this has ever happened to me in the game. I was just wondering if this had occured to anyone else.

I seem to remember something similar.
In my case, I seem to remember it was actually a force selection error - can't remember exactly what I'd done but if I launched units separately it seemed to work.

I concur with wlbjork. Although I don't remember being totally unable to launch a strike, I do remember sometimes getting the "aircraft will land in darkness" warning if I select what seems to be a normal number of aircraft for a strike with plenty of daylight left. But then if I just deselect one or two of the squadrons, it will let me launch without the message.
Sometimes if I select "who cares about darkness and launch anyway!" in this situation, with plenty of time left in the day, my aircraft will nonetheless launch and return before nighttime. Then again, sometimes when I try to launch regardless of the warning, it will just never fully form the attack, or sometimes will indeed launch the attack during the middle of the night despite having a huge amount of time before dark.
Then again, this only happens rarely, much less than once per campaign.

I have the "launch for night landing" and they return early anyway. Its been a while so not sure if it got fixed or I just havent seen it.
I have done attacks for night landings successfully.
