I’ve noticed this when looking at AI ship histories as well. Ships listed as launched in 1897 in their histories when they are legacy 1889-1890 ships.

Note the construction date and the date shown at the bottom. That is probably as the ship has a list of circa (means about in time) 1900 merchant files to pick from. They should have named it 1890. |

I found the same thing about austrian patrol boats in early '900, they were commissioned in 1956
