Please tell me: 1. How often does it happen that your own (!) gun research gives you +1 quality guns of any calibre until year X with nation Y? 2. How often does it happen that your own (!) gun research gives you 0 quality guns of calibre 17in or above until year X with nation Y? You can pick your year X and nation Y depending on how far and what you typically play, but please share it so I can compare the results.
My gun research results tend to be disappointing and I wonder if there may be a gun research bug. In my game as Germany until 1954, I always kept gun research on high priority from 1900 onwards, and all my +1 gun designs are either stolen or bought from foreigners. I am technologically leading everywhere else together with the US and my budget (and thus research speed) was Nr.1 or Nr.2 in the world most of the time.

Yea I personally am in a game in 1920 and have no +1 guns though lots of 0 quality. Granted I imagine guns generally weren't very high quality in 1920 so I'm not sure my experience counts much for your question.

As IT I developed an 8"(+1) in July 1905, or maybe a month or two before. Then a 16"(+1) sometime in 1918.

I presume it's going to be hiding somewhere in the hard coded bit of the game but other techs have "dates" attached? It looks like gun advances are a bit more free form...

Germany, 1890 start
1909: -Q -2 guns: 10" -Q -1 guns: 5", 8" and 12" -Q 0 guns: 2", 4", 6", 9", 11", 13", 14" (2 and 4 inch guns are q0 at game's start) -Q 1 guns: Only the 3" I started the game with as Q1
Same game 1918: -Q -2 guns: None -Q -1 guns: 8" (yes, still at -1), 16", 17" -Q 0 guns: 2", 4", 5", 6", 7", 9 - 15" -Q 1 guns: 3"

I'm normally playing the 1900 game and most of the time nothing is +1; however, sometimes, my 3" or 4" guns might be a +1

Ok so I only have a later save for my recent 1890s Germany game
In 1953: Q-2:13" Q-1:18",19",20" Q0:4",6",7",8",9",11",15",16",17" Q1:2",3",5",10",12",14"
In terms of researched to aquired through other means, I'd say it is about 50:50 and I run decent espionage levels. For the 2" and 14" I remember getting the research breakthrough. The 5" and 10" were aquired through espionage but 5" is one of the regular unlocks I get otherwise. The 12" I might also have researched but I don't remember. The 14" I definitely researched in early 1930.

Will do as soon as I advance into the 30s...but I have started playing Baldur's Gate 3 and, well, I'm kind of obsessed with it right now

Thanks a lot to all who have posted here! I can obtain the data via an other approach now, you don't need to enter your gun research results here anymore.
Thanks again to all who posted!
