Hi all,
Is there a maximum for the prestige points?
I'm playing Japan, and I'm getting higher points than ever before (not bragging - honest), but I don't want to break the program!

I think there isn't , I had values of 130+ and it didn't seem to break anything beyond the prestige graph .

ok, so I must be doing something wrong, as I don't think I've ever gotten higher than 22.

Do you not win many battles, or lose a lot? That's a major way of losing prestige. Lots of stalemates is a particular problem, since you don't lose any prestige, but you also don't gain any, so there's no real feeling of "losing," but you don't "win," either. Events, too; a lot of events have options that drain prestige, mainly if you try to avoid war. Similarly, choosing in favour of war will usually give you prestige; not choosing those options would help explain your problem. Some other possibilities: - Not having enough ships on foreign stations. You get a warning before turn-end if this is the case, so this probably isn't your issue. - Not having enough ships on trade protection during wartime. Again, you get warnings at turn-end, so this probably isn't it either. - Not having enough of a specific type of ships (for instance, I often suffer from not having enough heavy cruisers). You'll get events along the lines of "The press is complaining we don't have enough [ship type]s" if this is the case.

There's also the 'Secretary of the Navy has been reading and decided we need more of [type]' events, if you agree (to increase budget) then fail to deliver you also suffer a prestige hit.

Prestige is a resource to be used just like budget is, collecting hundreds of prestige is not the point of the game...

Prestige is a resource to be used just like budget is, collecting hundreds of prestige is not the point of the game... Collecting prestige is absolutely the point of the game, in the same way as points are the point of Tetris or Pacman. Prestige is your "score," and having the most prestige is a "high score."

I don't agree. I win if I have fewer wars and battles, that will ruin the economy and kill humans.

I win if I have de-fleeted as many countries as possible while taking their colonies. Prestige is just a resource to use to achieve maximum mappainting.

I don't agree. I win if I have fewer wars and battles, that will ruin the economy and kill humans. In the real world, yes, I agree. Rule the Waves is not the real world. By your logic, Joshua was right: the only winning move is not to play. (Disclaimer: I've never watched Wargames and I don't know the context. Please don't laugh at me.) I win if I have de-fleeted as many countries as possible while taking their colonies. Prestige is just a resource to use to achieve maximum mappainting. How about this: let's just agree that RTW is a sandbox game where you can make up your own goal.

I like this idea and I would hope that the development team could adjust the game to reflect a players goals.
In my opinion, a navy's goal should be to:
A. Protect the security of the people
B. Expand economic prosperity and opportunity
C. Defend the the values of the nations way of life.
To me, my prestige is meaningless without achieving these goals. I don't believe the team will modify this goal.
