I am seeing this when playing on a WIN11 laptop, but not on a WIN10 machine. You see in the attachment the missing characters in the ship and class names. Likely some file encoded as ANSI and not at UTF-8. This also impacts when viewing the ship design and I've also noticed it happening when battles load. See 2nd attachment Also, I noticed in the error message that there are 2 backslashes between "Rule the Waves 3" and the Save folder. In my experience you don't see a combination of single and double backslashes. It is either all a single backslash or they are all double backslashes. Weird, I created a new game and this time the o umlaut is now showing up. So now can't reproduce it.

The 'double backslashes' are WAD, they are simply the way the paths are parsed->presented and do not affect the game. The other issue is intermittent, but we are looking at a change that should completely resolve all those sort of character issues.

Intermittent?! From that word I infer you think it is no big deal and does not have a high priority in fixing. I hope like hell I am wrong, I think this problem is the single biggest issue preventing full enjoyment of the game right now. And if "intermittent" means it doesn't happen every turn I would agree with you. It does occur every game however, and if a fix is not on the near horizon I am gonna reinstall and put version 14 in until a fix is announced. If playing as Germany, I can work around by replacing every umlaut letter in the class name before saving the design. Unfortunately, I didn't think of that in my current game and have a class named Z hringen that cannot be refitted.

I certainly did not meant to imply or infer that we think its 'no big deal' or should not be addressed. By 'intermittent' I meant it does not affect a high % of users; if that were the case we would have hundreds of reports of the issue, which we do not have. Addressing this is indeed on our very-near-future to-do list.
Thanks.
