Do you like missiles? Do you hate predreadnoughts? Have you ever wanted coal-powered aircraft carriers? If so, this mod is for you!
I have gone through and changed the discovery year for every single tech so that it happens in half the time of the base game, doubled the speed of plane development, and changed the name of nearly every template so that they are available earlier. The game now progresses roughly as follows:
I also recommend increasing the techrate of each individual game to around 200 or so, in order to keep up with the discovery years.
Works with all start years.
Back up your entire data folder before installing this mod.
Installation Instructions
Drag the files into your Data folder, replacing the duplicate files. These should be "ResearchAreas3.dat" and "AircraftBasicData3.dat."
Delete the entire "IDes" folder from your Data folder, and replace it with the folder of the same name in the mod folder.
Important note: Verifying your files will, due to the fact that all of the later templates are renamed, create a large number of duplicate files with the original names, so the only way to reinstall the IDes folder after Verifying Files is to delete the entire folder and copy it back in.
Potential Further Development
Continued Aircraft improvements. Planes currently top out in 1930. I am considering having planes continue to improve to, at the least, 1950.
Known Issues
-Gun Development does not keep up with the rest of the tech
-Due to the way Oil proliferation works, unless a nation holds an oil province, oil firing is not available prior to 1920 or so
-If applied to a save started using the old template names, the game occasionally throws a non-fatal error, which can be safely clicked through, on opening the save.
-Due to the relatively small number of eras for CVs, late game CV templates become available much later than other ship types.
-BBs and CVLs occasionally fail to generate in the autodesigner around the mid-1930s. I believe this to be a bug from the vanilla game that is transposed to an earlier time, because I have had this happen without the mod installed during the missile age in the base game.
