I've just switched to a Win 11 laptop, and now it seems my preferences are not saving between games.
Anyone know if I need to change a file setting somewhere?
Or if I can change the preferences by modifying a file?
Edit: happens in both 1.00.27 and B1.00.34, didn't notice the problem on Win 10.

There is a "Preferences" file in the main game folder that is plaintext.

Thanks. Just checked it - with the game open - and it's not reflecting the preferences I've set in game.
Fingers crossed with my manually editing it, it will apply that in future.
I'm wondering if Microsoft have made a few changes to Win 11 that are badly affecting RtW due to not seeing these issues in Win 10?

wlbjork Unfortunately I can't reproduce this on any of my three test machines, one running Win 11 Home and the other two Win 11 Pro. Is this with the Steam or Matrix version of the game (or both)?

Steam version.
Really odd this as I opened the preferences file while the game was open and it was still at default.
Editing the file manually has worked around the issue.
I'll try verifying the files.
Edit: That seems to have fixed it. Steam re-downloaded 3.2kb of data, so maybe the Preferences file hadn't quite installed correctly?

One change to be aware of is that in the new RTW3 beta the preferences file is now located in the same folder as save games (C:\Users\[username]\Documents\My Games\Rule the Waves 3), the preferences file located in the game directory is no longer used/valid.

Is this still valid? I think its why I don't have any saved preferences. I keep my saves and game directory together on D: so perhaps the game isn't making a preferences file because it's thinking it must be separate from the directory?
