I was experiencing the "memory access violation" bug when accepting carrier battles that has been reported elsewhere here and on steam. On the 2 carrier battles that did not result in a MAV I have experienced the game freezing, not responding and locking up completely once aircraft get into a firing position. The aircraft approach my ships, CAP engages them, but then a few turns later when I assume they start launching missiles or bombs, the freeze happens. When I try to reload from an autosave the same freeze happens at the same moment, with minor run-to-run variations Restarting the battle from initial positions did work on the first battle, however having the same issues on the next carrier battle indicates to me that this is going to happen consistently so I haven't tried restarting that one yet. The start of the freezes in particular does seem to coincide with me getting the "early anti-missile jamming" technology although I cannot say for certain, and the MAVs have been occurring since the moment carrier battles started to be offered. I checked your save but I could not replicate the problem. It might be specific to your machine somehow.
You could try turning off the Air approach warning messages (preferences screen), that might help. Please reply if this solves the problem, it will give us an indication of the underlying issue.

From what I've seen so far turning off the "Show aircraft approach message" has fixed the issue, I'll report back if anything changes
