As I've learned today, it is entirely possible to convert destroyers into corvettes, but since corvettes 500 tons and smaller get sold (e.g. erased) from the game, this leaves the risk of having players delete their ships unwittingly. Therefore, it seems imperative either to have the game flag these converted DDs as undeletable through the KE mechanism, or warn the players about converting their sub-600 tonners into corvettes Also, I am not sure if this is intended behavior, but converting destroyers can lead to corvettes faster than 24 knots apparently Attachments:

Keeping the speed it entirely reasonable - it's a DD hull-form, and unless you rip boilers etc. out, it's still going to have the same speed.
One of the lager groups of DDs converted to escorts (i.e. small ships not armed with torpedoes) during WW2 were the British V&W class destroyers, HMS Wanderer being assigned to Lt. Cdr. Bob Whinney who wrote about his time aboard her in his autobiography 'The U-Boat Peril: A Fight For Survival', ensuring we have a good supply of information about such ships.

They make for good immediate corvettes when wartime starts and excellent for filling up TP requirements so that I can keep as many minesweeping KEs on active fleet as I can. I just need to make sure they get put on TP and stay on TP at all times. Upkeep wise, a 300 ton DD used as a corvette is as expensive as a 600 ton DD converted to a KE or a purpose built 700-ton KE (at least atm in my game). Even the upkeep of 400 and 500 ton DDs aren't so much more expense to warrant scapping and paying for new purpose built 600 ton KEs.
It isn't until enhanced sonar becomes required that I start dumping my old DDs.

Oh no doubt that is a reasonable strategy, but the fact the game allows you to do this without a warning and deletes your KE conversions anyways is incredibly horrifying. It is possible, and I know people who've actually tried this, so it should be addressed.

No, you're right. There definitely should be a warning for that. Though at the same time I feel like these specific corvettes should be exempt from being sold off since they were definitely not originally civilian vessels.
