When playing on larger fleet sizes, i tended to switch my divisions around all at once, en masse, to reorganize and switch ships. To do this, which in a fleet where only the destroyers could number over 300-400 was a pain, but tolerable, by simply dissolving all divisions one by one and then setting them up again, or clearing all ships from a division and then once done, replacing them. After the update, this is no longer possible, presumably because players could get rid of bad commanders without loosing prestige by simply making an empty division and placing him there, then dissolving that division.
This has the (i presume) unintended consequence that to replace ships in a division, especially dd divs, where they are full, you have to replace every ship 1 by 1, which takes FOREVER and takes out a lot of the fun to design a large navy and managing the divs to set up chains of command because you have to spend too much time switching ships rather than the use for the division.
To solve this problem I've got a few solutions that could work:
Add a setting that disables the "cannot clear/dissolve division without dismissing commander". This would give players the option go back to managing the fleet as before.
Allow players to clear ships from a division but not be able to advance to the next month before either all divisions have ships, or dismissing the commander, like how the game wont let you pass without all areas having a commander. This would also let players do things as before, while maintaining the inability to cheat the system by removing "unfavorable" commanders.
This final one is just my own dream, but it would improve QOL for players like me who play on super large fleet sizes, and, hopefully everybody else as well. Just like the recent clear all roles button, add a button for restructuring divs. This button would then clear all ships in the divisions, so you could add them in again. This to would maintain the restriction that you could not advance time, and perhapaps, if you tried, tha game could tell you something to the lines of "Not all divisions with commanders have assigned ships. To advance you need to either dissmiss all the commanders for a prestige cost or add ships to the divisions. Do you wish to dissolve the divisions? yes/no." This would make the divison management much easier.
Other than that, love the recent update, it seriously improved the game.
Have a good one!
