gyazo.com/974702b4dc5a5dc2a5df8b2e906a16a4as you can see I have the aft turret selected (the red dot) but its hiding the barrels of the superimposed? why is that? That top turrets don't have this issue Is there a way to fix this other then just playing with the position? and faking it?

The game will stack the turrets based on the order you select them. Make sure the superimposed turret is placed after you select the aft turret. The top turrets don’t have the issue because you naturally select A then B.
It’s just a visual thing. The turrets will operate normally regardless of how you place them.

It's nothing to do with the order, Y turret always superimposes over X turret.
Logic says there's a bit of code been reversed for their appearance.

Yeah, so you gotta select and place the Y turret first, then you select the X turret and it will not have its barrels hidden underneath Y turret. As seen here.

That's weird.
Last night, when I tried it, Y turret would always appear above X turret.
Today, X always appears above Y no matter the order in which they are moved.
That would make it a glitch and not a bug - for whatever reason it wasn't work properly, but it's not reliably reproducible.

Similar if I understand correctly - I've noticed "stacking issues" with mast crosstrees and tertiary guns. Sometimes the barrels cut "above" the crosstrees, regardless of if I delete the mast and reapply it after the guns are placed...

I gave up figuring it was just a matter of players really needed to see where the guns were vs decorative drawings.

Visuals and superstructure are always rendered beneath weapon mounts (torps, missiles, guns) except if they're casemates, underwater tubes, or the ship is a CV.

I believe the complete stacking order listed below is correct. Items higher in the list will be stacked above items lower in the list. Note that, unlike missile launchers and guns, catapults and torpedo tubes are stacked below visual equipment.
Tertiary guns (Guns lower in the Tertiary gun list will be stacked higher.)
Secondary guns (Guns lower in the Secondary gun list will be stacked higher.)
Main guns (Guns lower in the Main gun list will be stacked higher.)
Smoke stacks
Missile launchers (Launchers lower in the Missile launcher list will be stacked higher.)
Visual equipment (Visuals lower in the Visuals list will be stacked higher.)
Catapults
Torpedo tubes
Superstructure layers two through six
Superstructure layer one
Casemate guns (Exception 1 - if the "Line" box is checked a superstructure layer will not hide casemate guns. Exception 2 - see below.)
Hull
Exception 2 - Note that superstructure layer one has special properties. If the Line box is checked, this layer will take on the national hull color, in effect becoming a visual extension of the hull. If the line box is unchecked, layer one will assume the color selected for it on the color swatch. Unlike other layers, layer one will always obscure casemate guns, even if the line box is checked.
In particular, note how main gun stacking is arranged by location in the Main gun list.

Yep, but when the game glitches, it doesn't work like that. It appears to be when an auto design mounts an X turret but no Y turret and the player adds a Y turret (split over 2 posts due to multiple images): Attachments:

As can be seen, I've tried moving both X and Y turrets to no avail, the barrels of the X turret are always under the Y turret. Edit: Deleting and re-adding the X turret fixed the issue. Attachments:

The turrets will be placed in the correct order automatically when the ship design is saved.
