By the time Aviation ships are a thing they are taking over some of the roles of cruisers for searching areas. I use small AV ships as merchant raiders phasing over to them from small CLs.
Noticed today that the AV ships have a blockade value of zero.
I don't think that's right. Blockade is about moving goods on merchant ships. The AV ships very much can find, with the planes, and sink a blockade runner with light ship guns or bombs from its planes. They dont have armor so not as resistant to trading shots if someone shoots back.
In my ship list the 8,000 ton CLs have a blockade value of 4. A 14,000 ton CVL converted from a large AV has Blockade 5. My 30,000+ ton CV have blockade 12.
Current game I had a treaty with fleet tonnage limits so I purged all my older CLR ~2,800 tonners. I dont have one to compare. My AVR are ~3,000 tons. This lets them have from 3 - 5 planes and ~4 of 4" Dual Purpose guns which a merchant would find "unpleasant". Can't have torps on the AV as then the game thinks its a DD.
I would suggest the AV ship have a blockade value of either equal or half that of a CL of the same size.
