... and charge the players who bought the game for it as DLC.
BCWYWF - The devs have only one source of income.

Thanks everybody, for your kind words. I'm glad everyone is enjoying this. I've actualy done nothing more than improving what was already there, but I would be very honored indeed if they were to include it in the game. Any way, I've added a few things and corrected some glitches. Three raked masts are now available, as requested above, for light ships. I added them to the Masts in each set, but for some reason they don't appear along with the other: you have to select the set you're in and the the specific mast: they're Mast9L, Mast10L, and Mast11L. Take a look at S140 down here to see how hey look like. S140.bmp (300.05 KB) On with the show: I added the extensions to the red funnels to the accessories folder (I had forgotten to do that, now you can have taller red funnels), as well as another funnel cap. I tryed drawing the rolled up anti-torpedo nets and booms, to add to the hull, but ended up giving up, they didn't look good. Besides, they're only good to get tangled in the proppellers, right? New feature, as accessories12 in each set, there's a sloped deckline that allows you to have a nice transition between forecastle, deck and quarter deck. You can see it in Cristobal Colon down there. Also acessories 8 and 11 on set2 were left white, and now have been corrected to hull black. This allows you to cover up the casemates that the program adds to the hull, and then put them someplace else using the proper acessories. Again, you can see it in the next example. Also there, I've lighten the shade of grey (no pun intended) to the portholes so they are more noticeable against the black hull. www.mediafire.com/view/3fh5bcc6x94c2a8/Cristobal%20Colon0.bmp#Cristobal Colon0.bmp (300.05 KB) This is all in the new link at the first post on this thread. I've also added a few new backgrounds to the upload, maybr people will liked them too, but they may also distract from the ship herself. Anyway, you can't use the current alternate bows agains the new background, but if people like them I can revise the bows. It depends on the feedback. I've been considering doing an extra set, something brownish, like the russians used during the Russian-japanese war. Just look up "Distant Guns" on google and then look at the images and you'll see what I mean. Camouflage schemes would bee interesting, but more dificult to combine with all the parts, so I won't get in there until the game is extended to WW2, or to the mid thirties at least. Have fun!

Thanks for the improvements. I've been wanting raked masts for a while . Also, thanks for doing the brown Russian thing. You've saved me the trouble of doing that myself. FWIW, though, there's some question as to whether the Russians used brown, green, or both. The surviving documents aren't really clear on that subject. When we did Distant Guns, our artist chose brown because it just looked better with the colors of the rest of the ships, but it might actually have been more of a sea green instead. As to camouflage, black and white dazzle might be possible because that's supposed to have discontinuities in the pattern. Also, the US WW2 pattern of a dark blue lower hull and gray forecastle and superstructure should be doable. Also the early WW2 RN pattern of light gray overall with a short, low dark bar amidships at the waterline might work. It might also be fun to have an overall "Mountbatten Pink" set

Nice stuff. Maybe sometime down the road I'll crack open Paint.net and rework set 2 with green waterlines and white funnels like some early 1900s French ships had (though others had yellow/tan funnels like other nations IIRC).

And done.

She looks french enough - I gave a pronounced sheer to the ram bows and counter sterns. Pitty I could not simulate the thumblehome. Have no idea how to do it.
I think I dropped the ball on the funnel caps though: thats accessory n 15 that's in the zip, to be placed in the accessories folder.
The funnels aren't really white, yet. They're the light grey ones from Set4 (german grey). I'll get around to it, when I finish set5 (russian-japanese war brownish russian.)

Oh very nice. Guess this means my next game will be playing as the French!

Very nice. It's not a long step from there to the 507A/507C scheme common in the RN in WW2. And the USN dark blue lower hulls:

Yeah those are from a Japanese blog. The guy does tons of colorizations of old naval ships from pre-dreadnoughts to WW2, even some pre-1900 stuff. Some non-ship stuff too. blog.livedoor.jp/irootoko_jr/Its all in Japanese of course, but you can kind of stumble through since he puts (rough) english into the categories as well.

Your raked masts do not load as there is break in numbering sequence (instead 9L, 10L, 11L they should be 7L,8L,9L). They work OK when properly numbered. Austria-Hungary flag is transparent on the middle stripe Many color patches do not fit hulls (too dark or too light) is it intended?. Some work well as angled superstructure pieces. New backgrounds look nice, even if very busy but nr 2 and 4 have IMHO too dark sea color. The sets lack few things I'd love to have: easy (minor edit or copy+rename) one color patches of main colors and their light and shade, square, deck high or sth like this. Small guns and small guns with masks (those that are used for DDs and CLs) as accessories Smaller flags for DDs and other small ships. Rafts rotated 90degrees 1-2 window stripes with transparent background, or added to decks, so they will disappear behind side turrets. more small details for DDs, like those air intakes currently allowed only on big ships. a sky colored patch for use as eraser completely new: Reflectors and their platforms (free standing and bridges to attach to superstructure) At least one modern looking crane for boats/planes Catapult and generic planes (floatplane and/or flying boat) sideways and facing forward Flared bows for DDs Letter and numbers in black and white for DDs ID numbers I may actually try to make a few of those and submit them when I'll find some time And to not sound overly critical, I love your work, that allows those great designs:

As a small suggestion, I think a few section of "decks" with no doors would be useful.

The color patches were not intentional, it just took me some time to realize what they were for. I'll correct them, and leave some for angled superstruture pieces. I'll try to add your ideas to my next release, but might as well wait a bit until the new sets are ready, and release everything together. Good call in the raked masts. Thanks. The letters and numbering for DD's will propably need their own folder. Define "modern looking crane". I have a new one, but not sure if it applies. I think if I copy the air intake thingy and recall it mast10L, it works. (EDIT-it does!) Thank you all for the input/feedback! (PS. How did you make such big-ass funnels? - great designs btw.

The last download was Set 6. Is there a set 5? If not, you won;t be able to use Set 6 until it is renamed Set 5.

Set 5 is probably the Russo-Japanese war set he's working on. (PS. How did you make such big-ass funnels? - great designs btw. Staring at it a bit, the funnel on the Italia looks like its actually a superstructure piece (or pieces) with some of our funnel top accessories (two stacked on eachother) put over it. Of course, he could also just be editing the image a bit after constructing it. Anyways, thanks again for doing this. I spent way too long this morning working on a single ship: You might notice the overhanging bridge structure at the front which was produced by burying this: part under the hull. A stand along bit of the top part of that one might be pretty cool to have. I also made an extra hull window piece for this ship which had only 2 windows instead of the current 6 window piece you've got. Seriously I'm never gonna get around to playing the game now. I start up a new game and I spend dozens of minutes building sideviews for ships instead. The results are so pretty though!
