That is an absolutely glorious looking ship, Archelaos! I haven't put as much time in as many here--work & life are sadly limiting my Ruling of the Waves at the mo'--but I appreciate the inspiration from you guys & all the work from the various artist/compilers. Thank you all.

Set 5 is probably the Russo-Japanese war set he's working on. (PS. How did you make such big-ass funnels? - great designs btw. Staring at it a bit, the funnel on the Italia looks like its actually a superstructure piece (or pieces) with some of our funnel top accessories (two stacked on eachother) put over it. Of course, he could also just be editing the image a bit after constructing it. Anyways, thanks again for doing this. I spent way too long this morning working on a single ship: You might notice the overhanging bridge structure at the front which was produced by burying this: part under the hull. A stand along bit of the top part of that one might be pretty cool to have. I also made an extra hull window piece for this ship which had only 2 windows instead of the current 6 window piece you've got. Seriously I'm never gonna get around to playing the game now. I start up a new game and I spend dozens of minutes building sideviews for ships instead. The results are so pretty though! All graphics were made in editor, no post editing. In top view I put all 4 oval funnels to create one large. In side view it sometimes work (but rather for 2, like on destroyer I posted) and often don't, as the shading and pipes break the look. So I had to use color patches to make flat funnel side. Decks are better then accessories here, as accessories tend to move to background and disappear when you try adding decks after placing them (lost innumerable anchors that way ). Then I placed piece of superstructure to make side bridges. Cap was made with multiple cap accessory(11) placed on top of each other (moving from the back, to cover lighter patch in front) Galagagalaxian, I have to admit that, just like you, I spend to much time making those side pics. But it is really fun for me, and ship is not fully complete without side view It's only a shame that I'll never have chance to test RM Italia in battle. I didn't know that hitting resign will overwrite save, so I have that game finished on I.1926.... I really like your designs too! Thank, Davedave! It took a long time, especially finding a way to do some parts so I'm glad you like it!

Have you tried loading the autosave? That might work for you. Fortunately, once you know how the save system works, it's easy enough to make back-ups: Just copy the GameX folder for the correct slot (or, as I do, make a compressed archive of it).

The last download was Set 6. Is there a set 5? If not, you won;t be able to use Set 6 until it is renamed Set 5. Sorry, my bad. I skipped uploading set5 as it was so simple: it's actually White hull, white upperworks and White funnels. I hadn't made the funnels yet so I skipped to the french set6. Anyway here it is now, and the funnels are actually white (not the german light grey as before), thogether with all other sets so far, plus the accesories, with some improvements (like workable raked masts, smali guns as acessories, some extra funnel caps and anchor, correted decks and patches, etc...) www.mediafire.com/download/t3dbpa5ibxh8678/ShipParts+1-7.7z And as an extra: set 7, french cruiser victorian paint scheme! Here's an example, hope you like it: www.mediafire.com/view/ae8s13s6wssb3mz/Amiral%20Charner0.bmp#and as an example of what you can do with one of the funnel "caps": you can paint the top of the funnel, like so: www.mediafire.com/view/am9eeqay2n9wqic/Retvizan0.bmp#This is all for now: I'm paying atention to all the good ideas you guys are throwing, and I hope to implement most of them when I complete my two next sets: Set8 - brownish russo-japanese war Set9 - ah... er.. surprise! Cheers.

Very nice. Funny thing is I had hacked together an "All white" set already by copying pieces from different sets, but its nice to have proper white funnels. Thanks! I also noticed you copied the smallest guns into the accessories folder. I literally had just done that myself while working on a Pre-dreadnought. Dunno if you'll find them useful but here are the handful of custom bits I've made myself so far. Nothing really fancy besides the Ottoman Turkey flag I guess. Imgur converted them to pngs, but they should resave to bmp with no trouble using MS Paint or whatever. I also experimented with creating railings for putting on the ship's deck, but it ended up looking way too busy, the wrong kind of detail. Looking foward to seeing what the "Surprise" set is. Loosely based on the British Centurion Class Battleship.[edit] Oh and you've got those lovely prow paste-ons that let you customize the bow a bit, why not one for the rear of the ship that allows this sort of curved above the waterline style that is a mix of both the current "cruiser" and "counter" styles?

I just noticed that your french sets (6 & 7) have much more pronounced ram prows and counter sterns. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be intentional or not. Also a slight nag is that the green waterline on the french sets is too dark IMO, it is hard to notice against the black hulls. Comparison Link for the prow/sterns. Also, since you have those "porthole" accessories, I'd suggest editing out the built-in portholes on a few of the hull pieces: Then gain, they're only on destroyer hulls, so its not a big deal I guess. I'm totally train of thoughting at this point, but the prow stuff reminds me I love the "upswept" bow bits you've included, how about pieces for upswept sterns? A number of interwar/WW2 battleships had them I believe, though they were usually very slight (much slighter than the bows).

I've worked out a buff color for the British funnels - I hope you don't mind if I build on your work. I'm not posting things for download but if anyone would like a copy of the funnels, message me here. Here's a sample: If you look closely you can see I'm working on a dark blue-gray hull, but it's not nearly done. Also will try a gray-green but I'm not sure how that will work.

Decided the current flags are too big for destroyers and went and made some tiny flags. Most turned out ok, but a few aren't that great (Japan I used the "meatball" because the rising sun just looked like crap at that size no matter what I tried). They're PNGs on Imgur, but they should work just fine after being resaved as .bmps

But as a general note on flags, if the ship's at sea, shouldn't the flag be on the masthead instead of the quarterdeck? OTOH, however, if the ship was at sea, there'd be great clouds of coal smoke from the funnels, so I guess having the flag aft isn't really a problem.

I just noticed that your french sets (6 & 7) have much more pronounced ram prows and counter sterns. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be intentional or not. Actualy yes, that was on purpose, cause, well, their french. Have you actualy seen some of those turn-of-the-century french designs? U-lá-lá! Anyway, I was thinking of revising the all bows (and sterns, now that you guys are asking) system. Instead of bow and stern patches with the background included, it would just be the bow/stern, without the background and already including the bow/stern flag pole. I would have to take out the poles from the existing hull pieces, but I believe it would give one more libety at placing the desired shape and at using diferent backgrounds. The thing is, if you want to keep the original one, you would then have to place the flag pole yourself (it would be an accessory). This way I could include more bows and stern shapes to all the designs and let people figure out wich one they want, instead of altering specific sets, like I did with the french ones. What do you guys think? Also, if the accessories start to pile up, I'll probably just keep in each set the essencials and the ones with the specific colors, and move the rest to the acessories folder, and revise the numbering there (like numbers1 to 10, boats, 11 to 20 portholes etc) Some specific accessories migth even had their own folder (so as not to pile up) like a flags folder, for the big flags, the small ones and the admiral's ensign. Speaking of which, I was gonna ask you for you beautifull turkish flag. I'll also have to check the the thread with the countries Mods, and see if I should imclude the flags of the countries they have there. Thanks for all the feedback, it's not going to waste.

Yeah, I was actually thinking of snipping off those flagpoles on all the sterns myself. As far as the accessories, you could always just sort them out into seperate folders, yeah. And here are the handful of custom accessories I've made, including those flags. @ Bullethead: Honestly, I don't know what the etiquette (if any) towards where to fly a ship's ensign is when at sea or in port. I just looked at tons of pictures and noticed that usually the ensign was flying from the stern, though quite often its on a mast (Sometimes both!). Could always just edit out the pole on the small flags and make that a separate accessory. Some of those pictures also make me think of another suggestion as far as flags go; specifically national flags, not just naval ensigns, in case you want to fly both (national on the mast ensign on the stern as seen in a few of the photos in that album I haphazard threw together). Another suggestion I have, but one I suspect would be fairly difficult to pull off (I certainly don't have the pixely-art talent for it) is smoke for the funnels and wakes for the bow/stern, in case someone wants to make their ship look more properly "in motion". I'm not too worried about it personally, but it popped into my head, so I thought I'd mention it.

I wonder how much work it would be for Fredrik to change the generation interface from radio buttons to either a drop-down menu or up/down arrows for bow and stern. That would free up a lot of design space for artists.

Underway is from the mast 24/7. There's actually an announcement made over the 1MC (ship's PA system) saying "Shift colors, [ship] is underway". Edit: I'm not sure when this convention was started, as some of the ship photos you linked showed US ships with colors on the fantail staff apparently underway. Heresy!
