Never got the digital download for this as requested and postage to UK is about $14 so not really keen in spending that out if this game really is dead. Also any game stopping bugs still about as i know the develoment for this game has stopped. Or should i just wait for Rules the Waves 2? Thanks.

Hello,
Due to real life issues the designer had to cease support for the SAS game some time ago, and without his input unfortunately we (NWS) can no longer offer support for the product mostly due to changes in JAVA - the program was programmed using the JAVA language and requires users to install the JAVA runtime, but changes to JAVA since the program was designed may potentially cause issues with the game. Due to this we cannot guarantee that the game will run properly under current JAVA releases.
It is unfortunate but sometimes these things happen - I personally really liked the SAS game and enjoyed both helping to create it and play it, but as you say RTW2 is planned, and even though it is not really designed as a replacement it will cover the WW2 time frame that SAS covers (and more of course).
Thanks.

I no updating Java, so my version of SAS works fine. Very interesting game with a big potential. It is possible to open game code for modding? Since 2012 I creating mods for Pacific Storm Allies, War in the Pacific Admirals Edition, and I think, that the work with SAS code may be productive.

Gato,
The game is written in JAVA, so anyone that knows JAVA can open the files and modify the files as they like - we of course cannot support such endeavors since we have ceased support for the game.
Also, please be aware that by not updating JAVA you run the risk of malware and hackers infecting your PC through JAVA, as many updates to JAVA are to address vulnerabilities and to counter exploits by hackers - I certainly can not recommend keeping an old version of JAVA on your machine if it is connected to the internet in light of this.
Thanks.
