Out of curiosity, where is your game located? What drive and file structure? I suspect I have issues stemming from file placement as well. C/Users/[username]/Documents/My Games/Rule the Waves 3/Save williammiller is there any way to change the game's save directory? Sorry, no current way to alter the save path and make it work perfectly; due to Steam compatibility issues the save location needs to be a common one. I'll fwd this to Fredrik W and Matrix to see what they think.

generalvikus I've now finished running your original posted save through 23 months of gameplay and have not noted any significant issues, including also renaming a number of new ships with no issue. We don't see many reports of corrupted games; I would first recommend that you run a scan on your drives for errors, see if they are ok. If that is not an issue, then we can look at some other possible factors. What exactly do I need to do? I have never done it before, so it might do me some good. Here is a good article detailing how to scan a drive: www.lifewire.com/how-to-scan-a-hard-drive-using-error-checking-2624497Please let me know what you discover, thanks.

Thanks blarglol , appreciate the offer...and sorry for the trouble caused with your game. It does not affect most users, just a few...we believe it has to do with a certain combination of factors/settings that together causes the game to not be able to properly deal with some default file-location settings in Windows.

blarglol We have come to believe that this type of problem may result from issues with how the core dev language/environment sometimes handles OS-related interface functions, likely related to the age of the environment used for the series. Now that we finishing up the current round of bug fixes and changes, we are devoting our efforts to determine the best way to resolve or mitigate this particular issue.

Ok, thanks Burningapple3 - Fredrik has now altered the setting to include everything (not just ship names) in the game that uses accent characters in the latest beta, if we caught everything that should resolve the issue completely.

Would really need more data to determine if this is an issue or poor luck/OB/etc. Will have our internal testers keep a lookout for this.
