Hey I was wondering if anyone had played past collapsing in revolution and how they did. Also would like to add a gripe of my own that when a PC country collapses the AI will often take 5 or 6 ships, while a player can only take one in a revolutionary victory. Just lost 2 semi-dreads, a semi-dread AC, and 4 really good PC's after collapsing at 13 unrest against France as Russia. I cursed so hard as I had 4 turns in a row of peace offers and they kept getting derailed by the Hawk party... who were first against the wall when the revolution came. I also lost my first two dreads which were 5 months out. Oh well, the General Secretary has been much more sensible about making peace (4 short wars against France later)
Thoughts? Dmitri

I have suffered the same, twice. Once as Italy, who of course could not well bear such sorrows! I chronicled that one in brief, I think I played on for 30 years having no further wars so bad was my position, but I did play on. Italy is a poor comparison, given they have so little capacity to overcome such losses, but in another earlier game I did recover somewhat, though it was indeed a true set-back. nws-online.proboards.com/thread/1012/garrisons-games-archive?page=2Italy game, about half-way down. Unfortunately, the only advice I can give is that it is an exercise in patience and curiosity, to see how far you can recover.

Oh I have recovered. General secretary Trotsky has been kind to the sovet navy, and the French have been crushed. At least 20 Marine Nationale capital ships lie at the bottom of the Baltic by this point (1933). Currently trying to fight AH but the game insists on racheting tension with France again. Irritatingly the French quickly scrapped the ships from me so I never got the chance to take them back.

Aren't France and Russia natural allies? How do you end up in so many wars with them?

Aren't France and Russia natural allies? How do you end up in so many wars with them? Aggressive colonial policy in SEA following my first war, which was with Germany. Then my gov collapsed in Revolution to them lost all my SEA colonial stuff and all my good ships. Didn't build a dreadnought till 1917 due to budget and peace restrictions. Then 4 wars (#5 about to finish) of first Russian then French revanchism. The Frenchie's have become my mortal enemy... I am allied to Germany, have been for 13 years now. Thus sinks the Marine Nationale

Also worth noting that (as far as I know), the only thing that "Natural Ally" status affects is relations at the start of a game, and from there your "buddy" state is no different in its behaviour than any other. So those friendly relations are all yours to either maintain or spoil!

Like how to date I have had 1 war with Germany, 5 with France, 1 with AH, and have been allied to Germany on and off for about 20 years total by this point (1942). I am currently trying to write up the first entry of a mini AAR to the War I am about to enter into with Britain between schoolwork... Tis the season for essays.

If Russia has a revolution, do they start using the Bolshevik flag? I ask because there's one in the flags file, but I thought it was left over from the SAI files (there's a Russian Intervention scenario)

Well they should in RTW2. Alternate flags for every country, including hypothetical regimes.

Does it change their government type? Like, if the Kaiser is executed, does Germany then have to strictly adhere to treaty displacement limits?

The leader changes to Chancellor, but it stays limited democracy, just like Russia stays Autocracy. Note that historically the Wiemar Republic and the Nazis cheated on both the Versailles restrictions and the Washington Naval Treaty.
