I'm probably not the first to find this but I wanted to share as I've found that it is sometimes difficult to recreate the exact events of what happened to ships that sank prior to the end of a scenario because you can't access that individual ship's log when the scenario is completed. If the ship is listed as sinking it will still be on the screen and you can access the log but not ships listed as sunk. If you use a text editor (I use notepad ++) and go into the Autosave.sac file in the Gamesave folder and search for "name=XX" where XX=the name of the ship, usually on the first hit (but it could take one or more additional hits to get to the relevant entry) you will find the ship's log such as in the pictures below. You have to scroll down a bit from the line with the name listed but the ship's log will be there. Like the poor French ACR Jules Michelet below. My destroyers seem to have a thing for torpedoing ships that are already sinking. Not so much for ships that are still shooting at me. So if you were wondering at what range you started scoring (or receiving) hits or if a ship sank due to flooding or fire or who actually torpedoed it for ships that sank during the run of play, now you can find out. Just be careful not to change any of the data in case you need to load the autosave for whatever reason. And obviously the data is only available until the autosave gets written-over at the start of the next scenario.
