No scientist in whole germany ever thought about APs? I thought that germany had AP research bonus... In 1907, I noticed that I have only 2nd level of AP research, but everyone else, even Russia and Italy has 3rd or 4th. So I have set everything on low but APs, which are high priority. Well, my research got much faster, but again on everything but APs. So in april 1910 I had to buy APs from americans (such a shame)... B or X turret? Thats some kind of sci-fi for german scientists, but at least I got 5+ centrelines while everyone else has 4 or less, so that maybe counts as win. BUT... How to use it without B/X? Well, thats a "rodney kind of question", which with enough fantasy soon resulted into "a rodney kind of joke", picture included below. And btw I take this ship damn seriously! Attachments:

That is an impressive ship I will say. Are you playing on variable tech? If so that may explain the derpy research progression

... say, which battleship of yours had a one-night stand with a supertanker?

I would have gone for an ultra-low look with a superstructure barely above the turrets, no mast, and a funnel not higher than the bridge: a battleship designed to fit under low bridges, with more draft than height.

Out of curiosity, are you considering staying on 12" guns and the linear configuration for future battleships in this game, or will you be shifting to a smaller number of heavier guns and superfiring turrets as and when they become available?

Out of curiosity, are you considering staying on 12" guns and the linear configuration for future battleships in this game, or will you be shifting to a smaller number of heavier guns and superfiring turrets as and when they become available? For my "end-game" BBs I usually prefer something like 10*15" guns, or 9*16" guns, top speed and as much armor as I can fit in it (a bit like Iowa IMHO). I dont like to go below 8 main guns on my ships, and even when I use 8, it is usually kind of Richelieu... But in my current game the research went TOTALY uncontrolable, my engine development reached 9 level without ever going over LOW priority, almost the same applies to subs. But APs and LFaTW research (the first one on HIGH, the other on MEDIUM) are now on level 3 and 3, but the third level of APs was bought from USA... I have played dozens of campaigns from the beggining to the hard end, but never saw that, I dont use variable tech...

Guys seriously, screw that. Im gonna hang all those stupid wanna-be-funny researchers along the coastline and then im gonna start all over again. Those god damn idiots invented 2 new useless hull construction levels (which has low priority) and 2 new torpedoes (low as well) only last year, but not a single new AP, or FC (both HIGH)!!! Saboteurs, a bullet to head is too expensive for such useless morons, so they will be hanged publicly as a warning that anyone trolling naval high command will be eliminated...

LOL. You probably just had bad luck in your rng rolls to see what the next AP tech to research would be after the first two were completed. AP techs in general have a relatively low chance of researching the first time they are checked. Improved Ballistic Cap in 1918 is a 100% chance but the previous techs all have less than 100% chance and 5 of the 9 are 60% or less. Tech 3 has an 80% chance but 4 is 60% and techs 5 and 6 are just 30% and 7 is just 40%. So if you have bad luck with techs 3 and 4 then you can go a while before you hit one. That will slow your research significantly since you end up researching a tech so far ahead of its nominal date.
I have no idea what effect having a national advantage in AP techs would have on those percentage chances.
