The rising sun flag is certainly NOT a problem in Japan since it is still used as the ensign of the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force. It is a problem in China and Korea, which is why mass market arcade games like World of Warships do nor use it for Japanese ships.

I'm really not interested in flags to this extent and I'd prefer not to see swastikas in this or any other game.

I don't see why not the swastika shouldn't make an appearance. It's a political symbol from a bygone era, and historically accurate to the scope of the game. It shouldn't be censored simply because.

If the swastika had been left as a political symbol from a bygone era, albeit an unsavoury one, it would not have been a problem to have it in the game. The problem with the swastika is that people still use it today as a symbol for movements preaching hate, racism and intolerance. That is why I as the designer have made the decision not to have swastikas in RTW2.

How about the hammer and sickle? Are you trying to make a political point here? No, a humanitarian one. I'm wondering if you value other people's tragedies as valid as your own.

Let's walk some of the verbiage in this thread back before it gets out of hand folks, as threads with these sort of subjects tend to do.
Edit: Actually Im closing the thread...the question posed by the thread has been definitely answered by Fredrik, so no need for additional discussion as far as RTW2 goes.
