Do the developers have some estimates to about how buggy the game will be on release? I would not like to ruin my experience as I know small studios often have problems with this stuff.

RTW 1 had a few bugs on launch. None I’d call “game breaking”, but there were some funny things like coastal batteries sinking and scrapping ships actually costing you money (which can actually be true IRL)

unlikely to be many bugs, it's just added code to a game that's been released and tweaked for almost 4 years already

There will probably be some bugs, but the developers are quite fast at releasing patches if RTW1 is of any indication. Any major issues noticed thanks to large amounts of players (some bugs are rare and might not be seen with the small beta team) will get fixed asap.

"bugs?!? We don't need no stinkin' bugs!"
But seriously, any developer that does not expect to have some bugs at first release is either lying, insane or God.

So with the new naval airforce, will there be the option to send torpedo bombers to sink that god damn forts for ever?

Do not forgot them to add into game. Something like each enemy sunk ship is changed to the Flying Dutchman. I do not want to think that you are insane as I am sure you are not lying or you are God. 😉

If you had asked yesterday, I would have answered that this will be the most bug free piece of software ever published, without even the slightest hint of a bug!

If this is a major concern, then the simplest solution is to wait a few months before buying it. That way, you have time to judge the state of the release, see how others are reacting to the game, and can make an informed decision. As much as I am looking forward to the game, I myself will be waiting a month or two before purchasing it, for basically those reasons. The game will no doubt be making its way onto my computer's hard drive, so whether that's done right at release or two months later isn't really a big difference.

cogsandspigots , love the avatar picture. I'm sure if there is an afterlife, Sir Horace Hood and Sir Jackie Fisher have been having a nice long "discussion" on that very subject.
