No option to play past the end of 1925. My medium USA I had the equivalent of a South Dakota (1920's version) in service and another one on the way. By then I was the only one building heavy (9x 8 inch, 13,800 tons, 30kts) cruisers. The AI has a serious boner for battlecruisers it seems. Other than a couple of Italian relics and my cruisers, the CA was extinct. If you have a large colonial area, BC's are too expensive. Cheers Bruce

Well, the game has to end somewhere; the tech tree ends and ship design calculations are not really able to handle post 1925 ships at present.
CA:s were pretty much extinct from 1910 or so until the Washington Treaty. In the game, the AI will tend to build "treaty cruisers" if there is a treaty on though.

Funny thing is my CA's were the workhorses of the fleet. Until very late in the game I didn't build CL's (I know, I know, completely the opposite of one of my earlier posts), and never built a BC at all. When even the CA's started getting too expensive for colonial patrol, then I started building CL's. No treaty was ever active, so we had free reign. Oh my god did the dreadnoughts grow in size (and cost...oh the cost), but none of mine ever saw action, because the AI didn't wanna fight. Cheers Bruce

It would be cool if there was an option to play past 1925 in an eternal dreadnought era that never ends!

If you simply want to keep playing past 1925 I've written an open source patcher that allows you to do so: github.com/Baloogan/RtWPatch/releases Of course this doesn't add any new techs or etc.

If you simply want to keep playing past 1925 I've written an open source patcher that allows you to do so: github.com/Baloogan/RtWPatch/releases Of course this doesn't add any new techs or etc. While I applaud the enthusiasm and appreciate the efforts of third-party modders, I must post some important caveats about using "unofficial patches" with our games & specifically with RtW:
A. All official NWS patches/updates are binary patches - if the game executable code is modified in any manner whatsoever then any official patch will fail to update it.
B. Playing after 1925 in such a manner may (likely will) cause game issues, as the game code is only designed to support everything up to 1925.
C. We cannot give support if you are using a modified executable as potentially unintended issues may result that we simply cannot address.
Please keep all the above in mind when using third-party patches or mods.
Thank you!

Is there any limit on reinstalling this game William? Wouldn't mind trying that patch. If it messes something up I can just reinstall. Would love to play past 1925. B-)

Hello, and welcome to the forums gord96!
You can reinstall the game on your PC as often as you need or want, and our general policy is that we allow any of our games to be installed on up to 2 PCs that you own. I have now set up a different update/patch system for RtW than we have used in the past - one advantage will be that the updates for RtW should work no matter if you have modified some of your game files or not.
Also, it is very likely that we will include an option to allow play past 1925 in the forthcoming v1.1 patch for RtW since it is a much requested feature
However, point "C" of my above post (about not being able to support a game using a modded executable) still applies, for the same reasons stated above.
Thanks!

I like that idea! Honestly, I wouldn't want to play it much past 1925 and I agree that from the historical perspective that's already pushing it a bit since there's no aircraft implemented - but from the gameplay perspective, in 1925 you're usually just short of reaching the end of the tech tree and have the chance to lay down your "ultimate" dreadnoughts, but with a 3-year wait before they're commissioned, you never actually get to play with them, which feels anticlimactic after making all that effort to get to them. I'd probably play to 1930 for my own preference, not further than that

Yeah I wouldn't want to play indefinetly, but enough to 'finish' what I want to accomplish. Example is my Spanish campaign. Got in a big war in the 1920's with Austria. Won the war but lost alot of ships and had to give my navy some new ships and overhaul some old ones. Problem is it's 1923 so there was really no point in carrying on as I couldn't 'fix' my battered, yet victorious fleet anyways so I quit in '23. Ideally I would have liked to get the 'armada' back to full strength and try some of the new tech before calling it quits. :-)

V 1.1 will have the option to play on for as long as you want, though there will be a hard stop at 1950. Technical develpment will level out of course.
