RTW2 would work on Steam. It's a bit sad they're not planning to do it. Steam's audience is known to act childish and unpredictable at times. The niche graphics would likely draw a lot of negative reviews. Then again, RTW would still far outsell this storefront (no disrespect, it works but it's minimalistic) on Steam regardless of reviews.

Thanks, looking forward to see...if tied to hardware in anyway (or license key based on hardware profile), I might be out of the running for the game. Can't imagine how else it would restrict to a specific PC but will wait to hear.
That is is pretty much what the anti-piracy system does. I am curious (and please don't feel obligated to answer if you do not wish to), why would this cause you to not purchase the game? Bear in mind that I am asking not to judge your decision, but to understand the 'whys' of it better, which may help us with future decisions on such matters.
I do not think people who decided to buy this game change opinion not to buy but it will be a little inconvinient. I like you start to think about 2 machines possibility. The second thing I am worried is that this game will be something similar to old classic titles, she will get old slowly because the graphics is already outdated so people who buy it accepted it. So my question is how it works after ten years will be the game limited still to your store to handle code to activate game on newer computer?

My main concern is that my HDD died in October and I lost everything. 95% of my gaming is done on steam. With steam all I had to do was download the steam client, and spend a few nights re-downloading all my games. No fussing. In fact, I go out of my way to get games on steam instead of on other services, just to have all my games in one place. I would support a steam release 110% also on a personal note I am on disability (social support) After rent and internet, I have enough money left over for $10 worth of food every day. That's it. Please note these are Canadian dollars. I was going to buy Imperator this month. I need to put aside money in advance for any purchase that large. I'd been good at saving and, in fact, had saved up extra. Here's my key problem with the game which would be eliminated if it were on steam. RTW2 is $34.99, US. this is $46.89 Canadian. Imperator is $39.99 US. However. Since it is on steam, it is $45.59 Canadian. In effect, I am paying more to get less with RTW2. Regardless, I've decided to do that. I even had to borrow some money from family in order to get RTW1 now, and, RTW2 with the discount when it goes on sale. Please understand that for someone with a budget like mine, this is a LOT of money.

I also note that one of my very first posts on these forums I mentioned that I made a backup of the download just in case my HDD dies again (IE this is not something I'm "suddenly making up")

also, it occurs to me that my original question sort of hasn't been answered. William Miller is the discount going to be applied at or before purchase, or will it be some sort of refund? (I hope it is the former as I don't think I have enough money for the latter without dipping into my emergency fund; which, I will do if I have to; but doing so costs me a $2 fee.) edited to add I have $51.07 canadian in my paypal; so I will be able to afford it even if its a partial refund and not a purchase discount.

Pretty disappointing that effort is being wasted on DRM which is only likely to harm paying customers. I'm fairly sure it'll be cracked as soon as any serious pirate groups care to try. Perhaps, and I don't mean to offend but it needs to be said, the effort would be better spent on a website/storefront which doesn't look like a series of mismatched windows 3.1 screenshots? I almost didn't buy RTW because I didn't believe your website was a real business's (the little Yahoo icon for the tab is just the icing on the cake). Further, even if I manage to navigate to the computer games/NWS section there's no mention of the upcoming RTW2 anywhere. If I didn't check this forum every so often I would have no idea a new game was about to come out. Put some effort into web design and marketing, things which are known to help sales rather than DRM which isn't. Edit: I see there's a much larger thread about DRM, so I'll copy the above post to there. Please don't reply to this here

The NWS products are being moved to a new online store soon for logistical reasons. The rest of the store may follow at a later date.
Thanks

thenewteddy,
It would be a refund after purchase this way the code can be verified before it is applied.
Thanks.

hi so with the discount i have a question. When i bought rule the waves 1 i got the code for the original purchase, The Issue is that that code wasn't accepted by the installer, I contacted support and then got another code supplied to me. So my question is what code do i supply to get the discount, the original code or the supplied code that worked?

It would be a refund after purchase this way the code can be verified before it is applied. I am not sure your bank, or many Credit card companies will be happy about that or the amount you might have to do

Tythas.. I do discounts as refunds all the time, never been a problem, not once.
Its a perfectly legit method of transactions.
