Those merchants can be awfully hard to kill some times, ya know?

There is No Drama in the Imperial Navy
So I can't just stop testing while I go super slow in my Italy game, so I started a game as Japan. Nothing earth-shattering has happened yet, had one no-losses war that ended in a White Peace, but then towards the end of the first decade this happened;
Boy, that's a rough two months there. I dismissed Captain Murayama for having a salacious affair with a celebrity of questionable repute, and then I sacked Kishimoto for fighting a duel in breach of regulations. But then when you look at it you realize...
...they happened on the same ship.
Kishimoto closes the door to his stateroom, taking great pleasure at his first cruiser command. He begins to pour himself a sake' when-
The door crashes open
Murayama!!!! I will have your head for sleeping with my wife!!!! -

...You're surprised? I'm pretty certain 6" high explosive isn't supposed to flash fire enemy battlecruisers but what do I know. The shell hit location TT, or Turret Top. If the AI skimped on armour there it would be very easy for a 6" HE shell to penetrate.

- or maybe someone in the turret crew just happened to poke his head out for a peek.

Usually when a battlecruiser detonates it's due to a large caliber shell, maybe a 10" to 8" is believable if they skimped on armor although I'm not sure I've seen that happen yet. But a 6 inch HE shell through 2.5" of turret top detonating a battlecruiser? I have never seen anything similar to this before. Also checked my 6" guns armor penetration table; it could only go through .688 inches of deck at 12K yards. So not even the AP could make this shot.

Speaking of "insignificant ordnance"...

Also, the AI is kinda weird for building dreadnoughts with 13inQ-2 guns...

Those kind of 'Golden BB' shots do happen... maybe the 6" shell hit the opening for the turret rangefinder or came through the rubber gaskets where the gun barrels leave the turret?
I dunno. In my current RtW2 game as USA2 (the scenario with the CSA) I just got backed into a war with France in 1940 (thanks Great Britain - you're a great ally). While all of my capital ships are being updated to new fire control. No worries, though - it'll mostly be a submarine war, right? So I turn my 80+ subs loose in unrestricted warfare -
and get seven - SEVEN - liners sunk in four turns.
NINE in five turns.
At least nobody has any liners left to...
TEN in six turns.
Whereupon I call on the Great God 'CTRL-ALT-DEL' (Mighty Is His Name) and go back to the last save.

Also, it's technically possible (albeit highly unlikely) for a 2" HE shell to penetrate 26" of armour in-game. It represents the tiny chance that you might hit a weak spot in the armour. For example, your 6" HE through the 2.5" turret roof armour probably hit the rangefinder aperture, or some other such weak point. It's not actually penetrating the armour, just hitting a point where there isn't any.

Was still one hell of a lucky shot, hitting at maximum range on the right spot and getting the right event.
