It was clearly a Japanese ploy to embroil two of its greatest enemies in a war with one another, weakening both in one fell swoop.

I've been messing around with the various ship template mods and ran into this monstrosity. Around half of the penetrating turret/secondary hits were from 4" HE shells.

I got really lucky with my science rolls and on getting bonuses to shipyard size. Had a 90k tone BB with advanced 16, 6, and 5" guns really early, like the mid 20's. In a night battle the fleets are nowhere near each other or so I think. I turn my fleet in towards my home port when suddenly my FBB runs right into the enemy fleet because it managed to outrun its division mates and it was at a different angle then the others. My ship opened fire and threw the German pacific fleet into disarray while eating through all the nearby ships. I got 12 detonations in like 5 minutes due to heavy night fighting training and being right in the middle of their battle line.

I think the highest I ever got was 12 heavy, 65 medium, like 250 light, and 5 torpedo hits. It survived just barely.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade? Interestingly, the bulk of the damage that was inflicted was delivered by the protected cruisers. Though these ships are large for the type; 7000 tons, it is surprising that the Italian line broke and fled on contact. Their battle line composed of ships such as 3 ships of Etruria class (32,000 tons) or the older Lepanto class (22,000 tons). (Essentially, while the Italians entered a battle line, crossing my T, I just bulled through it and engaged them in a melee. The massed 6 inch gun fire seems to have disabled the armaments of one ship after another leaving them helpless) This is unfortunate for the Italians, as I have 4 active battleships, with 5 more under construction.

How did you get hit with 5 torpedoes Its not that hard, either a destroyer squad made a slash attack or plane strikes. In this case it got its steering gear jammed amidships and engine damage so it was a sitting duck for torpedo hits essentially. It had been a running fight that I had been guiding towards the home islands, they were trying to attack more before they entered the range of my coastal batteries and had to contend with them, it bought enough time for the crippled BB to limp into range of the port thankfully.

Huh. Didn't know there was anywhere they could have built a coastal battery around Dogger Bank...

Russian admirals to each other: "I thought you were sending the ships to attack that convoy."

I can only assume this is a battle against 4 coastal batteries that were swept out to sea in a storm

HA! Been looking forward to this. 1952 Carrier battle. Probably the last of this play through. My deployed force has 200+ plane capacity, CLs with SAMS and a mess of HAA vehicles. Lets get this started. Start planning the custom scout plane positions...

My experience is that, if you have a decent carrier air arm, the weather is always too bad to use it.
