February 1928
Another Austrian raid, another of their battleships lost. We have sunk 15, they only have 7 left. We have lost no battleships, the largest we have lost was a light cruiser.

March 1928
Austria has surrendered! They will pay us reparations.
Now I go back in retirement and hand things over to my successor. My achievements include:
- seeing off the French - comprehensively beating the Austrians - building the Pompeo class battleships, Dardo destroyers and Bolzano CLs - the Zara CA which dominated the Austrian cruisers - the Machiavelli super-battleships and Lorenzo de Medici super-BC (still in construction)
The budget is not in a wonderful shape so my successor will have to put some ships on hold while others are completed, and put some of the fleet in reserve.

Would you include some save of the game? I tried to earlier but it wasn't working. I'll try again in a bit.

Game2.7z (476.63 KB) and apparently I can upload files in Linux. So I guess it's my version of Firefox in windows where the problem lies.

March 1928
Following in the footsteps of his father, the freshly appointed Ammiraglio captainloggy jr. knew his job wouldn't be an easy one, both in terms of the duty to his country and in terms of the expectations of his father. The old man wasn't able to command anymore, though that certainly didn't stop him from following the events concerning "his" navy closely.
Current fleet composition:
-9 battleships (3 fast BB) -9 battlecruisers (2 of which are old Lepanto-class BC) -1 light aircraft carrier (34 a/c) -2 heavy cruisers (1 light Varese, 1 heavy Zara) -13 light cruisers (1 old protected cruiser) -71 destroyers (33 Mosca-type patrol boats) -11 corvettes etc. -23 submarines (2 coastal) Furthermore, a total of 130 aircraft are in service, stationed mainly on various airbases. Two Macchiavelli-class battleships as well as the battlecruiser Lorenzo di Medici are currently under construction, along with several destroyers and corvettes. The international situation is calm following the war with Austria, though several of our ships are in desperate need of a major overhaul. Our fleet isn't exactly large compared to the three major nations, though we are on par with France and significantly ahead of Austria-Hungary. The financial situation isn't looking too well, we might have to halt construction on the LdM until the Macchs are completed.

May 1928
Due to budget constraints, construction on Lorenzo di Medici has been halted. Furthermore, aircraft production has been economized by only approving one model of an aircraft type for delivery at once. The Taranto- and Leonardo da Vinci-class ships will be sent in for refits, allowing for a major overhaul of aging systems as well as adding an anti-air suite. The two remaining Lepanto-class battlecruisers, Leone and Lombardia, have been decomissioned, with a large crowd including no less than three former heads of navy, namely cabalamat, dorn and captainloggy sen. attending the ceremony. It was briefly considered to use them as training ships, convert them into aircraft carriers or even turning them into anti-aircraft escorts, but in the end all such proposals were found to be impractical.
October 1928
A sudden slump has hit the world economy, caused by massive postwar debts and inflation in Austria-Hungary. It is questionable if the Empire will survive this crisis, though in any case our naval budget has been reduced as well.
January 1929
The two Macchiavelli-class battlecruisers have been commissioned, both reaching an excellent 29 knots on trials. During the commissioning ceremony for Cesare Borgia, a messenger from the foreign ministry approached the ammiraglio, informing him of the German occupation of Iceland, an act sowing deep distrust for Germany both in the government and internationally.

captainloggyI am quite surprised that both Lepanto class battlecruisers are still in service.

It seems cabalamat was quite attached to his design.

It seems cabalamat was quite attached to his design. It's more that they only cost c. 80 a month to keep in mothballs, and with a speed of 25 kt and armed with 14" guns would still be useful in a fleet battle.
But I agree, they are a bit marginal.
Incidentally, there were originally 5 Lepantos, there are only 2 now and the other 3 aren't in the Ships Sunk tab. Were they scrapped? [it would be nice if the program kept an displayed an individual history of every ships, with dates build, scrapped, battle honours, etc]
