OK, AI 1915 DDs now not only auto hit any ship, but they are also able to reload their torpedoes to hit again... you may also be running into issues where friendly destroyers hit your ships, try turning on "friendly torpedoes do no damage" in the options RTW-3 has a massive issue with DDs causing friendly fire

Well, each day Im left mindboggled how much can AI just straight up bullshit their way throw absolutelly impossible scenarios just with the sheer power of AI bias... My CV? One torpedo and its halfway to the bottom. Enemy CV? 6 boms, 3 torpedoes, medium damage, can achieve full speed and run away. A 1929 CV. My torpedoes? A massive wall of around 30 torpedoes from various DDs with 8 to 10 launchers per DD. 0 hits. Enemy torpedoes? A single DD with 6 torpedoes scores 3 hits on a full speed going dreadnought 12 FCKIN KILOMETERS AWAY! Honestly, the game is currently just unplayable, so Im switching to UA: D. Torpedoes which need a specialized torpedo computer to hit anything above few hundred meters, even against a slow freighter, in this game just keep hitting at absolutely bullshit distances. A torpedo hit at 1km? OK. At 3km? Well, if the ship does no maneuvering... At 5km? Well if the previous applies, and you also have a dozens of torpedoes in the water... At 10km? In 1932? Bull fckin sh*t! At 12? Lol, no Im not playing this nonsense anymore. And yes, as a RtW 1 veteran, it saddens me, but honestly, with each game this gets worse and worse. In RtW1 its was like "well, sh*t happens". In RtW2 it was like "sh*t keeps commonly happening". In RtW 3 its like "sh*t only". How to recreate such scenario? Easily, just enter a battle and you have a 2/3 shot of that happening in a more or less serious form. Its in fact rare to see a battle without a single bullsh*t torpedo hit. So after several years and 2 consecutive games where the issue got worse, I just dont have any more patience with it.

Is anyone else seeing the level of problems pavelsvt is seeing? Because frankly... I'm not.

Is anyone else seeing the level of problems pavelsvt is seeing? Because frankly... I'm not. Nope. And I note that their last few complaints haven't included saves either, despite it being pointed out that the Dev team cannot track problems without a save. Which does make me suspect that they are either exaggerating, or not taking any torpedo avoidance actions when enemy torpedo units are in range.

I wonder how much difference command mode/difficulty is making to people's experience of torpedoes in game?

I'm not seeing any issues. I'm keeping a track of torpedo hits in my current campaign (France) and so far it's running even between my hits and the enemy. RTW1 and 2 have left me suitably cautious when it comes to torpedo attacks!

Across hundreds of hours of all three versions of the game, I haven't *ever* had a TT hit that wasn't preceded by me moving too close and steaming in a straight line.
At least now there's usually the momentary thought "huh, I should turn" right before it happens, lol.

Yeah, most hits on me I can see coming too late from my own stupidity and eagerness to close and finish off damaged/fleeing enemies. Wounded animals are at their most dangerous!
However I am a serial restarter and usually only play 10-15 years, so I don't spend a lot of time in the later years with more advanced, longer-range torpedoes, so I can't speak to the veracity of these distant hits he is mentioning...

Currently running 16 enemy torpedoes hit my ships versus 35 friendly torpedoes hit enemy ships (across 8 battles where torpedoes hit at least once), so I'm quite pleasantly surprised with how well things are going. No significant aviation yet so this is all pre-dreadnought and early dreadnought-era ship-to-ship. Some of the hits on both sides are on ships that were already dead in the water but most are from destroyers and cruisers doing their thing.

You complain about how terrible and buggy this have is, then say that you are going to play UAD instead? Ok, I guess you must have the only non terrible version of that game in existence. Congrats. I think you might have a point with these torpedo issues, but your anecdotal stories are getting increasing hard to believe.

Honestly, the game is currently just unplayable, so Im switching to UA: D. Yeah...I agree with zederfflinger . UA:D is far more broken that this could ever be, even on it's worst day. UA:D has so many deep-seated issues baked into it that will never be removed, it's basically a lost cause at this point - and I say that as someone who paid full-price early on to get into the alpha before they even released the very first iteration of the campaign to the broader public on Steam.
You're shooting your credibility in the foot by claiming they are in some wonderful state superior to RTW3. Could torps be changed? Perhaps. But I don't see anyone in the eras you are playing having similar issues, at least anywhere near the magnitude you are claiming.

its worth noting that torpedoes were extremely dangerous weapons back in ww2 i think the AI / firing solution accuracy for torpedoes is generally too accurate, and torpedoes dont have drift (they do irl) But the effects we are seeing in game are representative of what good torpedoes do.
hell torpedoes are still underperforming
MK-15 torpedo does 15000 yards at 26,5 knots, 6000 yards at 45 knots, in game torpedoes do 13000 yards at 27 knots and 38 knots at 5000 yards type 93 mod 1, 43000 yards 36 knots and 21000 yards at 48 knots
I don't know the in game specs for oxygen torpedoes, but their range is around 18000 yards according to the torpedo range circle, and they seem slightly faster (but not by a lot, still very slow)

Also Ai accuracy is really dependant, it can lead very well but fails the mark spectacularly when switching directions instead of having dead center to the ship.

At least thus far, I honestly think most torpedo "problems" are just failures on the player's part to maintain situational awareness and perform sufficient evasive maneuvers for the real and always enlarging threat of torpedo attack. As they get better, faster and longer-ranged, you need to start zigzagging and avoiding straight courses further and further away from contact than you once did. It's a bit of pain, yes, but then if you don't like it don't play a naval game...
