Almost a million! Ship damage points done to the enemy. RTW3 its harder to get the high scores. 941K is pretty damn good. Also... there won't be much German surface fleet for a while. Playing USA starting 1890 and its currently Oct 1938. A big thanks to the Iceland 60 plane airbase sending out night equipped medium bombers. Lost the Delaware to the mistake of getting to close to the crippled Scharnhorst as its 14inch guns still worked and put holes in the aft of the ship. Flooding level down to a permanent 8 eventually pulled Delaware down on the way home. Scharnhorst giving the pew pew by the 4inch CL Amsterdam recently mentioned. >>> Also... this is why I couldn't vote on the Steam Christmas prizes that this is a game I suck at.... I don't. Im pretty good.

When I play as the US, I get Iceland and/or Norway if I possibly can. Then I cover it with a max-strength airbase (bases for Norway) and coastal defense forts. If and when the AI tries to invade, Iceland serves as the anvil while I bring the hammer.

"Monsieur Admiral - I want you to go find ze sunken Aquitaine, raise her from ze seabed, tow heeer back to France, and we will turn er into ze most glorious aircraft carrier!"
Yeah...somehow they converted a sunken BC into a CV...
I would actually like to occasionally raise ships sunken in shallow water near your ports, but it would need to be a random thing that doesn't come up often.

The game does that automatically.
It's random and extremely rare but you can lose a ship only to find it still in your fleet list.

I had an extremely crazy war againts Japan playing as Russia. Staring off strong, due to a bug the tables were turned and I performed a devastating surprise attack on the Japanese fleet , taking out two of their battleships. The conflict continue in a not very decisive manner until I attemped an invasion of Hokkaido - in a hilarious turn of events, one of my battleships was cripple by a 300 lb bomb from a zeppeling, which lead to it being detached. As the crew struggle to fix the leaks from the bomb attack, it run into a mine. This apparently send the crew into a frenzy as they manage to fix the flooding, only for the battleship to run into a second mine and be definetly sunk Two months latter, a battlecruiser engament lead to one of my ships taking heavy damage. As I ordered a detach, the captain decided to run a leisure cruise aroiund the japanese coast, only to get the battlecruiser sunk by a 11 inch costal battery I ended up winning the war and those were my only capital losses ( I burned though 60 destroyers with style ) but this war definetly prove how OP blimps and coastal batteries are. I am as surprised as the submarine Captain. Didn't know this was a thing in RTW3

One good reason to staff your airbases with naval recon and medium bombers - they hunt subs.
Does anyone bother to put fighters on land bases?

Depends on who I am playing, where I am fighting and the current range of fighters. You can only do one division at a time, so it is somewhat limited, but it can give you that all important cover on coastal raids where you are well in the enemy land based air range.

This is, uh... quite the "cruiser" battle the battle generator has prepared for me. Yes, I had plenty of battleships, carriers and cruisers in the region.
The opponent was a lone enemy DD. The enemy gets a marginal victory because some merchant ship, out there somewhere, survived.

I do depending on location and proximity to enemy airbases. I expect enemy fighters to be guarding their bases and I want to have CAP up to either counter them, or protect the airfield.
