This is my nomination- a reasonable caliber, thorough armor, not slow. The darned thing sailed alone into my harbor on a surprise attack and wiped out my 3 cruisers along with every shore battery in reach.

That is the Advanced Classes mod, and while this may not be an advanced class, and given the player is still limited to 52k, AI designs sometimes go to 54. An "over weight" box pops up and you need to click through them, but it doesn't stop them from being built. I presume whatever the last factor is (secondaries?) is added without regard to final tonnage. Still, I do not deem it unfair, and I see some very interesting variety.

Nice! I want one. That thing would have to be 800+ feet long though, how does it sneak up on anybody?

Are you referring to the Late Game AI Ships Mod that hipper created or a different mod?

That is the one. I am not sure the 2000 extra tons were intentional, but it is available only on AI ships. If you play into the 30's frequently, you see some welcome variation.

hipper mentioned the over-limit thing in the thread. He wrote that the AI always adds more to whatever was set as the limit for the design. Perhaps he didn't go low enough and the designs (assuming it was one of his) need to be adjusted. I'm curious how it went over 18 inches of armor on the turrets as well. I thought the limit was 18 but I'll admit I don't usually build max limit designs.

bcoopactual - "That thing would have to be 800+ feet long though, how does it sneak up on anybody?" Where does the 500-pound gorilla sit? Anywhere it wants...

I think I have a new entrant... ...I pray I can end the war before I see her...

...I pray I can end the war before I see her... Whew, yes indeed. Mecklenburg looks pretty stout. I notice she's not lead ship of the class either, so eventually Germany will have at least two of them, lol. I think the biggest ships I've built or seen have been in the 40-45Kt range with 16" guns (so far, I've not yet gone beyond the Jan 1926 end date).

Personally, I think I'd be a bit more afraid of Hizen than Mecklenburg. I think the biggest ships I've built or seen have been in the 40-45Kt range with 16" guns (so far, I've not yet gone beyond the Jan 1926 end date). Pretty sure you'd need to have hipper's late game AI ships mod installed (linked earlier in the thread) to see something like Mecklenburg even if you play all the way to 1950.

I had thought from reading elsewhere in forums that the vanilla limit is 52,000 tons, and that sometimes the AI can get away with building just a hair over that? No?
