I was playing and I just noticed that now, when you double-click on a contact report, the game generates a line coming out of it that shows the contact's estimated course and current position. Anyone else spot small changes that are nice like that?

When playing the initial demo, I noticed that you can buy aircraft designs from allied countries. It wasn't mentioned in the pre-release manual, but I looked up the current one in a pinned thread and it is mentioned there now. Neat little feature, IMO.

The columns in the various information spreadsheets in the campaign mode seem to retain adjusted width values between games. That's a neat little detail, I don't have to fix that with every campaign I start!

I've noticed reports of other nations building coastal defense batteries. I don't remember there being many, if any at all, from other nations in RTW1...but not i'm seeing 10 and 12 inch guns going in all over the place.
I guess the question then becomes...are they more effective in this game than in RTW1?

Can you outright purchase old ships from nations? If I play for instance the CSA with a limited budget, could I purchase a RN ships that was older and they wanted to sell?

Not sure if this is unique to RTW2 but in most wars, I can only fight battles with a single destroyer even if I have battleships and CVLs on active fleet I will always fight with 1 destroyer even if I mothball all my destroyers

I'm not sure if it is just me, but the AI feel very belligerent. I've just entered my third war with France, and there has not been a span longer than four months between wars. The first one they brought in Russia. I took territory from them each time.

Has anyone noticed that the units selected for battle tend to be a little more wonky than RTW 1? I've had three cruiser battles with a single light cruiser up against enemy armored cruisers, even though I have my own armored cruisers and battlecruisers in the same sea zone.

I've been wondering, for a while now, how on earth am I going to keep my CLAA (with 12 seaplanes for extra recon KidoButai-style) Carrier Escorts out of harm's (read: gun's) way, when it suddenly came to me: Due to the number of the seaplanes aboard, they will probably be reclassified as AV and get assigned to the Carrier Force immediately. Well - that's a relief if it works.
Now just to find the time to fire up the game and bring the turn counter to 1930s-ish ...
Cheers!

And in my opinion it's so egregious in RTW2 it's game-breaking.

Well, it's 1958 now, and apparently everyone is just crazy about CAs... again.
Might be that I've missed the right opportunity to wave goodbye to my BBs... although it should be mentioned that most of these are just over-heavy barges carrying a dozen or so 6 Inch guns.

Asymmetrical match ups. Unlike Rule the Waves 1 where each battle seemed to be matched up equally, alot of times I see asymmetrical forces like a CL and 3 DDs vs a CA or a BC vs CL or my favorite, 2 BB, 3 CA, 4 CVs and various light units vs 2 BB, 3 BC, 2 CVs, 1 CVL and various light units.
I love this because everything feels more realist and less scripted.
Also in the later game, CAs make a comeback and start getting matched up against CLs making there a good reason to use Heavy Cruisers again. Though they can still match up against BCs as well so while a much more realistic situation, their usefulness is a mixed bag.

Yeah. RtW2 puts more emphasis on picking your battles; don't see a CL vs. BC fight as an unfair matchup but a lost opportunity based on your ships at sea.

I saw that the Soviets fired two of their admirals in the span of 4 months, probably because of budget mismanagement. I don't think something like that can happen in RTW1.
Also, some of my pilots called my latest fighter design a "lemon". Anyone know what this means? I'm guessing this is flavour text for poor reliability being discovered in a new model of aircraft.
