Self: Hmmm..., should I follow this one? Not a big fan of anything CSA personally, but it is getting attention from people I respect...
"The Stephan Mallory Lab is actually based off the Melcene Academy of Alchemy from David Eddings' Malloreon series."
Yes. Yes, I should follow this AAR. :] Sorry I'm late to the party as the Chief AAR Trumpeter, but this is very well written indeed.
Side note, Eddings is responsible for the single greatest laugh I have ever had while reading, the page where Barak retells the story of Garion punching the jerk. (been a long time)

I always felt the "key period" was 1890-1920, but was so happy to find this product that I think I only mentioned it once, and that was the period I intended to cover in my paper-and-dice game.
However, it does sound like an excellent topic for some bright soul to mod! *hint hint*

I have taken old CLs, stripped them of everything I needed to to max them out on mines, and assign them to the CP pool in war. THing is though I can't say as I notice any difference between that and a 400 ton DD with 6 mines. I think all that matters strategically is 'Mine ship, Y or N'.
I know ships are supposed to drop mines on the battle map, but I can't say I've ever noticed a result or seen it in a log.

I have a new 1900 start, and decided to play Austria. I let the AI build the legacy fleet, and hey! No single-turret ships! That's a stroke of luck. So, rolled off a few months, and then in May, an intelligence report on the Italians; ...that Has to be an Austrian prize seized in like 1892. No self-respecting Italian yard would build that.

I believe I even once sank a destroyer with fragments from an 18" near miss. I had a destroyer once "die of fright", as over 2 minutes it was bracketed by 6 16" near misses and then just decide "I'm done." :] It was flotation and fragments, yes, but I wouldn't have raised any complaints over sheer fright.

So uh...Any pics of the anti aircraft system? Or details? ;V I can't really say more at this point. I know we, or at least I, have published images showing the anti-air suites on "mature" (1940-ish) ships, but as to how exactly they will work by game logic there isn't much to say. We have discussed the factors and issues involved with AAA, but as we've had no word yet on final implementation, there is really not much I can say without crossing the line. williammiller, feel free to amend my statements if needed.

Yes, we have to remember that this is a Naval simulation, and that factors beyond that realm are likely to be abstracted at best- however, it is William & Fredrik's baby, so they will choose how to raise it.

I am really interested how land will be integrated into RTW2. In case of RTW1 it was minimal by victory points and possibility to transfer some resources from navy to army. This system was simple, has sense at times of trench warfare. However extending RTW2 to 1950 give us mobile warfare when naval warfare has less impact on continental Europe where most of major naval powers were. As there is no more stalemates in trenches the war is moving quite quickly on land. This mean that resource situation for several nations could shift dramatically. In times of RTW1 naval blockades were far more devastating in Europe than in times in RTW2 where conquering land could give you additional resources so you can be less dependent on naval trade routes. Would be there any changes how land warfare impact RTW? I have started a few discussions on this, so I will take up the stylus to be the one to say "we can't say yet." We have discussed exactly what you point out, but that is still in the future at this point, as the chief tinker is still making thousands of tiny pretty airplanes in his North Pole shop. ( Yes, I just equated Fredrik to Santa Claus. I just got my first snow of the season! Its topical. )

Ok, no pictures for this one, but its one for the record books. 1904. An enemy 'B' has just been brought to a halt, burning and hit by a torpedo. It is very probably sinking already, so I take off Flotilla Attack orders and stand clear with my 5 B's and head for home. Well, a flotilla of 3 DD's decides they're going to make one more pass. They are sailing at high speed, essentially in echelon as they arc around the mortally wounded foe. The Lead DD and 2nd DD each fire 1 torpedo- ...which smack dead into the 2nd DD and the 3rd DD. Believe it or not, one of them survived, but the only DD that was undamaged was the leader; who then had the cheek, rather than commencing the collection of survivors, to circle around and send 2 more fish through waters teaming with survivors to hit the sinking B. Les sigh. Ze game, it is France.

Somehow I can't picture that Soviet Admiral jauntily sending the signal "Ready for Sea" 4 hours after returning to port. The real puzzler to me is how- with England as my ally - it is I who is being blockaded. Royal Navy, playing cricket while there's work to be done...
