This is intentional. Changing the size of the magazines is a rather cumbersome process, as they are just about as low down in the ship as you can get. Also, it is intended to prevent the practice of storing a "rebuild margin" in the form of ammo that is later easy to remove. While I'm certain this is way too minor of a thing to really bother with adding, it could be interesting to allow a player to avoid that penalty by storing ammunition outside of magazines, at the increased risk of flash fires. How do you would like to handle 2000 lb ammunition?
"Your fours, take it and bring it to deck!"
After 5 minutes captain": Why the hell my guns do not fire? First officer: "No worry captain, our bravely men are on our way with the first shell, just several decks".

It seems that designing a hybrid carrier is impossible. The designer either yells that CV cannot have centerline guns, or that only CV can have flight decks.

I can't say I'm intimately familiar with large magazine design, but given that one reason for British ship's...combustibility was improper securing of magazine spaces, I figure it's not out of the question to think that some safety-adverse individuals might store some smaller sized rounds just outsize.

Starting fleet
1. cramped ships as UK I do not think it is a bug however UK has cramped ships in her starting fleet. I would expect there would have none, especially not modern battlecruisers commissioned in 1915. More interesting is that ships with cramped accomodation is in foreign station at start of 1920.
2. destroyers so large relating to commissioned date Another thing is 1000 tons destroyer commissioned in 1903.

When I try to get it to autogenerate a ship design (of any class) it pops up an error message:
And then the picture of what should be a dreadnaught (or whatever) is replaced by a picture of what looks like a fleet carrier. The actual design is suitable for the class I asked for, but the picture is the same every time.
Not a huge problem, but annoying for me, since I use the auto-design feature to make the superstructure look decent.

Also, there doesn't appear to be a "manual build of legacy fleet" option, but I'm guessing that's intentional?

It appears that you have turned superstructure level 4 (ST4) into a line, making the flight deck disappear. Uncheck the line box.

2: It's a dreadnaught with 15" guns. The flight deck was supposed to disappear.

1) Installer isn't signed?
2) UK start: "Bonus tech: " << no name?
3) Game start: Foreign stations requirements not met for non-custom start?
4) Ship rebuild: Adding 1 * Director to a destroyer, "weight" on right hand side says 17 while "Weight remaining" on left reduces by 20
5) "Flight installations, missiles" has "Arir Capacity" setting
6) View ships under construction tab - right click and get options. Then view submarines tab - right click and get same options as for ships. e.g. "Accelerate Construction" Try to select or generate a ship picture and get an error message
7) Area Overview tab - a "Tonnage - Tonnage Required" column would help
8) Base Overview tab - I can expand the air capacity for free - no confirmation required either.
9) Doctrine - In a brand new game, if I open this and click "Stop training" and confirm then my Monthly Balance goes down? Does this mean no training was happening and this is now costing money to cancel?
10) Air Groups - I can add groups at seemingly no change to Monthly Balance?
11) Almanac - has no rows for aircraft carriers?
12) Generate Destroyer Ship Picture - Bow options "Short forecastle" and "Whaleback" have a gap near the bow.
